Giving Good Praise to Girls: What Messages Stick

Giving Good Praise to Girls: What Messages Stick | Worldwide Network for Gender Empowerment - Fielding Graduate University | Scoop.it
Carol Dweck's research, which focuses on what makes people seek challenging tasks, persist through difficulty and do well over time, has shown that many girls believe their abilities are fixed, that individuals are born with gifts and can't change.

Rainbow Bridges EFL Materials's curator insight, November 11, 2013 10:39 PM

Praise is still part of a student-centered classroom. But how one praises can make a huge difference: Carol Dweck suggests emphasizing the process of learning and the fun in challenging situations. In contrast, highlighting achievement is like feeding children junk food--they seem to want to hear it but it's bad for them in the long run.

100 Important Women in History

100 Important Women in History | Worldwide Network for Gender Empowerment - Fielding Graduate University | Scoop.it

Welcome to the website of the 100 Most Important Women of All Time: a page of 100 women who history would not be the same without. I, Shelby Ellery, created this site as a gold award project, the highest award that can be awarded in Girl Scouting that has to take at least 50 hours to complete. I chose this project because I believe that women aren't recognized enough. I can name so many men that I have been taught by my teachers, but I really can't name all that many women. This site is a resource for all those people out there who are just like me, no matter what age, curious about how women also affected who people are today and who the world wouldn't be the same without. Take a moment to choose someone you have never heard of and look through this window into their soul, who they really were or are.
