Kickstarter game projects total $107.6m in pledges
MCV
Kickstarter pledges have totaled over $22m thus far in 2013, with $107.6m pledged lifetime to games alone on the crowdfunding site.
Lincoln Mao's insight:

With indie game company numbers also increasing, these two work hand in hand as being a major component in the gaming industry's growth.

A lot of money in a relatively young industry - interesting to note the reference to core gamers still being considered as the primary funders of the industry. Gamers paying 99c for small addons probably won't keep the industry alive, so figures are being based on gamers spending big.

Nelson Johnstone's curator insight, March 21, 2013 6:01 PM

The gaming industry is quite young compared to others, which makes it quite surprising to learn that this industry has $50 billion in revenue.
