Narrative Legos with Ken Levine - GDC 2014

Narrative Legos with Ken Levine - GDC 2014 | Game Design Club | Scoop.it
It's clear that narrative is an important part of video games and something that the audience deeply relates to. However, the strengths of interactive media are player participation, the ability to experience content in different ways on different playthroughs and the fact that the content is not static. It's time for narrative to deeply embrace these elements.

Hitchhiker's guide is particularly hilarious - it's a good demonstration of how much you can accomplish just with clever descriptions.

UNITY: Game Development Tool

UNITY: Game Development Tool | Game Design Club | Scoop.it
Unity is the award-winning development platform for games and interactive 3D on the web, iOS, Android, consoles and beyond.
Ms Bayley's insight:

This is a direct competitor to UDK - you do need to know some scripting. There is a free version for either OSX or windows, which you can use for commercial purposes (read, selling stuff) up to a certain point. I'd love to see if anyone can make something with this!

* You need a 3D rendering program to create assets (environments and objects).
