Consumer sentiments change with generational change, and significant changes are being witnessed as a new generation starts flexing its economic muscle,  the chief of these being the move towards supporting businesses that show that they are socially responsible.

Business owners need to become fully aware of the shifts that are taking place in consumer sentiment, and be conscious of the negative consequences of their businesses not being seen as socially responsible, and take action to reap the benefits which flow to socially responsible businesses.

This excellent article, provides the evidence required to convince business owners to take their businesses down the social responsibility path, and it outlines eight clear benefits for business that  are regarded as being socially responsible by their customers.

I agree with Jones that "the biggest challenge in leadership development is around getting individuals to change their behaviour."

In my view this is more about mentoring than coaching. Too many coaches have solutions and they're out there looking for problems. Mentoring is more about partnering with people to find their own solutions.

Schumpeter: Decluttering the company

Schumpeter: Decluttering the company | funstuff22 | Scoop.it

PETER DRUCKER once observed that, “Much of what we call management consists of making it difficult for people to work.” Nine years after the management guru’s death, his remark is truer than ever: employees often have to negotiate a mass of clutter—from bulging inboxes to endless meetings and long lists of objectives to box-tick—before they can focus on their real work. For the past 50 years manufacturers have battled successfully to streamline their factory floors and make them “lean”.

Today, businesses of all types need to do the same in their offices.

Organisations are filled with 'clutter'. From tiers of management, to increasingly complex corporate objectives, meetings and emails. Clutter takes a toll on morale and productivity. Organisations must set time aside to 'spring clean' the clutter - when will you do yours?

Michael Binzer's curator insight, August 4, 2014 3:36 AM

So true. Too much cluttering - how can we remove it? Read XL R8 by John Kotter. One option?

Graeme Reid's curator insight, August 5, 2014 1:57 AM

There is a lot of decluttering to do in most organisations.
