Review of the Fujifilm X-Pro 2 For Street Photography | Eric Kim

Review of the Fujifilm X-Pro 2 For Street Photography | Eric Kim | Fujifilm X | Scoop.it

To be frank, I wasn’t all that excited to test out the Fujifilm X-Pro 2. I’ve never shot or owned an X-Pro 1, so I don’t really have a reference point. But for all my friends who have owned an X-Pro 1 — the consensus was that the camera was solid, but the autofocus sucked. Well I am very happy to announce that the new X-Pro 2 has a ridiculously-fast autofocus (I’d probably rate it a 9/10). Not only that, it is extremely accurate too. I will also say this upfront: the new Fujifilm 35mm f/2 (50mm full-frame equivalent) is blazingly fast in terms of the autofocus as well— and pretty much kicks the ass out of any other Fujifilm lens. tried out two lenses with the X-Pro 2; the new Fujifilm 35mm f/2 and the Fujifilm 18mm f/2. Long story short; the 18mm f/2 sucks, the 35mm f/2 rocks........

More Pancakes? Why Not! First Impression of the Fujifilm XF27

More Pancakes? Why Not! First Impression of the Fujifilm XF27 | Fujifilm X | Scoop.it
When I first purchased my Fujifilm X-T1 the XF 27 was the first lens I looked at. At the time it was the closest thing, if not identical to the Canon 40mm STM that I was shooting with on my 6D. For whatever reason the lack of an aperture ringed turned me off from grabbing the lens and I opted for the XF 18 instead. This was probably one of the dumbest decisions I had made, not because the XF 18 is a bad lens, but because I absolutely loved my Canon 40mm and it too didn't have an aperture ring... As you can see a lot of knowledge and growth has transpired since making these early purchases.

Some Thoughts on my new XE-2 vs. the XE-1

Some Thoughts on my new XE-2 vs. the XE-1 | Fujifilm X | Scoop.it
By far the most heavily used equipment in my collection is of course my Fujifilm gear.  The newest camera in the system that I owned until recently is an X100s, which I have no desire to trade. The two latest Fuji bodies (the XE-2 and the XT-1) have newer processors, supposedly improved auto focus capabilities, and WiFi , which enables a variety of interesting functions. It occurred to me  that I out to try one of these.

Full Frame envy? Focal reducers to the rescue: a review of the Camdiox focal reducer for Fuji (part 1)

Full Frame envy? Focal reducers to the rescue: a review of the Camdiox focal reducer for Fuji (part 1) | Fujifilm X | Scoop.it
The specific brand I've been using is one branded Camdiox, and it's the version for the Fuji X-mount. It's almost certain by now that the various "knock offs" are not direct copies of the Metabones, but it's more than probable that they use the same design principles. I am not exactly sure if the Camdiox is the same as other similar products; in Europe, the Roxsen company is one primary outlet for this brand, but not the only one. Because the original Metabones is quite expensive (besides any quality advantage, having to pay royalties to Caldwell doesn't help with pricing), it is rather difficult to justify, if you only use it infrequently. The Camdiox is under 100€ shipped, and it remains to be seen if the actual image quality is there, through real-world examples.

How I made this image using my favourite compositing technique

How I made this image using my favourite compositing technique | Fujifilm X | Scoop.it
I love creating images with plenty of story and I need to use certain techniques to get the light the way I want. On location I use limited gear, usually two Einchrom ELB400 which I use to create interesting light to my subjects and the environment. My most used composite image technique is where I combine multiple exposures into one seamless image. Camera is fixed on a tripod, I have selected the composition and framing of the image, fixed the focus and selected the aperture to use. When these elements have been fixed I cannot change them anymore when I start

Lightroom Fujifilm Profiles vs VSCO Film 04

Lightroom Fujifilm Profiles vs VSCO Film 04 | Fujifilm X | Scoop.it
Back in April, Adobe released Lightroom 5.4 with color profiles for
Fujifilm cameras. Up until that point, I had been using the VSCO Film
presets as a starting point for editing most of my RAW files in Lightroom.
Since the Lightroom update however, I find that I'm now using the Lightroom
profiles more and more. To get a better idea of the actual difference
between the two, I decided to do a comparison by editing some RAW files
using both. Here are a set images I shot recently edited using

Handgrips & QR Plates for X-E1 or X-E2. Should you do it?

Handgrips & QR Plates for X-E1 or X-E2. Should you do it? | Fujifilm X | Scoop.it
I am a proponent of using Arca Swiss quick release systems for all of my tripods and my monopod.  There is nothing simpler and more effective.  However, the simply rectangular beauty of the rangefinder form of my X-E1 prevented me from permanently attaching a body plate to its underside.  As a result, "quick" became a relative thing as I would use an Allen wrench to attach and detach a generic body plate as needed.  A bit silly, but given that I shoot handheld 90% of the time, it was a workable solution.

Fuji 18mm f2 Review - or - How I'm learning how to like shooting wide

Fuji 18mm f2 Review - or - How I'm learning how to like shooting wide | Fujifilm X | Scoop.it

Can I learn to like shooting wide? ...

I decided to try out this lens – 18mm (27mm after crop factor). Some people love it, some people don’t. If you look up Fuji 18mm f2 you’ll see some polarized opinions. It feels cheap, it doesn’t focus well, the optical quality doesn’t equal other Fuji lens. I can go on and on citing other reviews – but that this is a Fuji 18mm f2 Review – not a list of others’ opinions.
