Thoughts about the Fujifilm X-H1

Thoughts about the Fujifilm X-H1 | Fuji X files | Scoop.it
I was a bit sceptical when I saw the new Fujifilm X-H1 for the first time in December 2017. I was holding a camera in my hand that is almost as big as my old Nikon D3. The camera size was one of the reasons why I actually had switched to Fujifilm in the first place. My X-T1, even with a battery grip, was small, light and inconspicuous. And even with the X-T2 this hasn’t changed. Now there is a new camera, which is almost exactly the opposite of the current Fujifilm X concept, something between X-T2 and GFX50S.

Fujifilm Launches X RAW Studio And New Camera Firmware Updates

Fujifilm Launches X RAW Studio And New Camera Firmware Updates | Fuji X files | Scoop.it
We have known for a while that Fujifilm was planning on releasing a series of firmware updates for their X-Series and GFX cameras. Today, the first round of those firmware updates were released for the Fujifilm X-T2, X-T20, and GFX-50s. As well, the company launched the Mac version of their new X RAW Studio image processing software. For those who need a reminder, the X RAW Studio is the software which Fujifilm announced a few months back that allows photographers to connect their X-Series camera to their computer to utilize it’s built in specialized RAW conversion hardware. The idea is that it will allow photographers the ability to have the convenience of processing their images on their computer, but the performance of the in-camera processor.

The Fujifilm XE-3 is a 'baby' cam so good, its big brother might get jealous

The Fujifilm XE-3 is a 'baby' cam so good, its big brother might get jealous | Fuji X files | Scoop.it
Fujifilm’s X-E-series cameras have always been the affordable alternatives to the flagship X-Pro models, and with the new X-E3, we finally have a proper sidekick to the X-Pro2. The $899 rangefinder-style camera is actually the fourth in the series (lest we forget 2016’s X-E2s) and it is the most refined, streamlined, and powerful version yet. It borrows heavily from the X-Pro2, to the point where many users may have trouble appreciating the differences.

Cheap Software Transformed my Fuji Processing

Cheap Software Transformed my Fuji Processing | Fuji X files | Scoop.it
Last week I blogged to explain why I was reluctant to make image submissions from the Fuji X-T2. Then after some internal debate with myself, I made a few submissions. The results are back, and the submitted files passed QA. What I now need to confess to is that I didn’t process the files in Lightroom, I used Iridient Developer.

The best Fujifilm lenses to start with in late 2017

The best Fujifilm lenses to start with in late 2017 | Fuji X files | Scoop.it
I must admit that the endless stream of emails and online inquiries about “which lens/lenses should I buy” prompted me to tackle this issue head on.

First, I have minimal interest, if any, in the technical aspects of gear. If you are looking for charts, technical discussions or pixel-in-depth scrutiny of every lens you could spend your time better elsewhere. This article is aimed at people who are (1) new to the Fujifilm X-series family, (2) are looking to revamp their photography, or (3) are new to photography in general.

FUJIFILM X-H1 IS HERE —

FUJIFILM X-H1 IS HERE — | Fuji X files | Scoop.it
On Thursday 15 February 2018 Fujifilm announced the brand new X-H1 compact system camera with simultaneous launches around the globe.  As an official Fujifilm X-Photographer Jeff Carter was asked to be part of the test team for the new camera. He took the X-H1 to the WEC event in Bahrain and to the Scotland v Australia international test at Murrayfield.  This gave the X-H1 the hardest of tests and there was plenty of feedback for the Fujifilm development team back in Japan, most of it extremely positive.  He has had to keep the camera under wraps for three months but Jeff can now give his thoughts on the latest addition to the Fujifilm X-Series family.

Is the Fujinon 35mm f/2 My New Walkaround Lens?

Is the Fujinon 35mm f/2 My New Walkaround Lens? | Fuji X files | Scoop.it
I am a X100 guy. I proudly own a X100T, which I think is still the hottest looking and best designed camera in the market, but for one thing: the non-articulating screen. I didn’t upgrade to the X100F only because of that. But wait, how is the X100T screen related with the 35mm?
