Gunnar Glocker's insight:

In the article in the New York Times the Insurer to pay Armenian massacre claims.(National Pages). I found it interesting that after 80 so years that the Armenians of today are recieving life insurance money that happened to their ancestors in 1915. A life insurance company in America agreed to pay up to millions in all to the heirs of the families. And a problem they faced were to finding a heir to give it to. Was it genocide?(Revisiting the Armenian Genocide

Gunnar Glocker's insight:

The article Was it genocide?(Revisiting the Armenian Genocide) was what happened in Turkey in the 1910's really a genocide. No one denies the fact huge massacre took place. The Ottoman Empire feared the Armenians were siding with the Russians. So they took the Armenians and cross over to the mountains and desert were many died of disease and starvation. Which the Turks claim is not murder. When Turks asked for proof an Armenian produced a telegram. A telegrams from the wartime interior minister, Taint Pasha, showing that he "gave explicit orders to kill all Turkish Armenians-men, women, and children." But at a later day the Armenian said that many of them were faked. It gives more fuel to the never dying fiery conflict between the Armenians and Turks.

"Turks, Armenians, and the 'G-Word'.(genocide Armenian massacres, 1915-1923).

Gunnar Glocker's insight:

The article Turks, Armenians, and the "G-Word".(genocide, Armenian massacres, 1915-1923) talks about that even today there has been a long talked about topic that the Turks claimed that did not occur while the Armenian do. One point that the Turks say is that the deaths are results of them aiding the enemies. And that when the Turks were moving the Armenians they did it should they would be in less vulnerable position. And that all of the taboos of old are gone and thrown away except the Armenian Genocide. Even thought it is taboo for the Turks it is one of the most talk about and debate about topic in Turkey. There have been action that has occur by Armenian extremist decade after kill one of top leader for the genocide. And decades later a Armenian extremist group killed 31 Turk diplomats.

The Previous Holocaust

Gunnar Glocker's insight:

In the article The Previous Holocaust it is discussed that the massacre of Armenian was not talk about. "His parents had closed a ''stone door'' on
the past: the brutal slaughter and deliberate starvation of dozens of relatives was not considered a subject suitable for conversation.'' And  there were little talk around the world at all about what has happened. And that the Turks were trying to solve a problem of the Armenians to make Turkey a pure country. And that even America was to guilty to not making known what happened and go after Turkey. Instead they were allies with them.

The Turkish-Armenian rapprochment processes a case study approach

Gunnar Glocker's insight:

The article of The Turkish-Armenian rapprochement processes: a case study approach is the history and list of all the agreements and treaties between Armenian and Turkey. And all of the things that the Turkish and Armenians have happened to deal with after the end of the Ottoman Empire. And looks at the attempts that Armenian and Turkish made to have a more positive relationship. The first treaty started in 1920's and through the years both Turkish and Armenian feel that the other has fail on the agreement. There have been five or more treaties between Turkish and Armenian and the majority has failed them. The only thing that binds the Turkish and Armenian together is the Kars Treaty that has been one of the first treaties and one that has been remodeled many times.

Gunnar Glocker's insight:

The movie follows Fergal Keane a reporter that goes around to find out about the Armenian genocide. It starts out with a story that Rahan Kachian tells about a time that Turkish soldier hunt down her father and cut off the head and give it to her family. And that all how her family were killed and put into a mass graves. And it shows many others views and stories on the topic. Turkish today firmly denied that this genocide would have happened and to say it did not would not be correct. And a German photographer in the army working with the Turks took a picture where there are 15 soldiers in a line with about 15 chopped heads on the ground. The Turks deported the Armenian across the desert and starved them. When they left the soldiers would raid and take goods from homes from valuables to family and livestock. And another reason that it is not a genocide is that there is no written order and document saying kill the Armenians.
