Jewelle Lim Fong Yee's curator insight, February 1, 2013 7:52 AM

I see that the obesity and poverty is linked in someways. People who are poorer will not have sufficient money to consume the healthier choose of food. Hence, they are resulted to eating of cheaper food which are rich in calories and high in fats as it provides them with more energy. These food are all fast food which has less nutrients. This leads to obesity and unhealthy diet. I wonder why did the government not take action to help these people and ease their living situation.

Rayn Kang Lam Fong's curator insight, February 2, 2013 10:43 PM

I see that people who are poor eat cheaper but healthier food thus they do not worry about obesity. But those rich people can eat those foods that are expensive but also high in fats

I think that we should educate people about this matter so that they can help themselves and not get diseases such as heart problems or diabetes

I wonder why the government does not educate the people about this . Less money is better than having more money but having more illnesses.

Jasmine Tan's curator insight, March 2, 2013 12:57 PM

See. Think. Wonder.

From this articicle, i can see that obesity is actually linked to cheap food. this is because when one does not have the money to buy food, they will go for cheaper options, but it makes it more unhealthy. These foods can be processed foods etc.

It makes me think that cheap food may not be that healthy to one's health after all, so why buy these foods, when it is bad for health? I do understand that people facing poverty may not have the money to buy more nourishing food for themselves, but what about those who do have money to support themselves.

It makes me wonder how people do know that they are consuming unhealthy food, but still continue on eating it, just because it saves a little money.
