Before I post information from a blog, I research for verification from a legitimate news source. Below is a link to the FDA website proving this story to be true.  The FDA sent a violations letter to Diamond Food stating that they "have determined that your walnut products are promoted for conditions that cause them to be drugs because these products are intended for use in the prevention, mitigation, and treatment of disease." They went on to threaten regulatory action if the violations were not corrected.  Basically, Diamond Food is being forced to remove any claim that walnuts promote good health because their product bears health claims that are not authorized by the FDA (because only the FDA can determine proper health benefits even though a former Monsanto exec is now in charge of the administration).  However companies like Frito Lay and General Mills falsly continue to claim "heart healthy" products.
