Weight Training Routine with a Purpose - TRAINING METHODS (Resistance Training) | Fitness | Scoop.it

A different type of weight training routine is needed depending on the results being achieved.  For each training routine, the amount of weight used, the number of repetitions, the rest period between sets and the time taken to do each repetition will all vary. There are TWO different movements for a weight being moved: contraction (concentric) – the muscles doing the work of lifting a weight and the negative (eccentric) when the muscles guide the weight back with the aid of gravity.
