On Monday, January 14, Mexico's best known anti-violence activist presented a petition to the U.S. Embassy. The petition stated that a majority of guns used in Mexico's drug cartels are smuggles from the U.S. The activist in charge of this petition (Javier Sicilia) claims the United States is partially at fault of the humanitarian tragedy. Mexico's interior secretary recorded approximately 70,000 deaths in his country due to drug violence. However, before the activist could present his petition, Obama said he would present a new U.S. gun control plan within days.

This article speaks about 5 men held accountable for the assault of a young woman and her male friend. The assault took place on a bus in New Dheli. Apparently, the petition came as a fast-track court took up the case. All five men have pleaded not guilty according to their lawyer. People believe that all 5 suspects should be tried as an adult. However, no charges were put upon the men just yet.

In September of 2009, a petition was created to expand critical habitat for the North Atlantic right whale. The petition was filed with the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) under the Endangered Species Act by the Center for Biological Diversity, Defenders of Wildlife, Humane Society of the United States, Ocean Conservancy, and Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society. Petitioners state that data have shown that right whales roam more widely than the identified areas. Ship strikes make up the majority of injury and death to the North Atlantic right whale. Therefore, the commercial fishermen are being forced to change the ways they fish. The petition was written to enforce keeping the whales say and free of harm, and also to bring awareness to the situation.

Obama's video explains his plan on how to make the U.S. a more peaceful place. Not long after the Newtown, Conn. mass shooting, did he propose (along with others) that gun violence be reduced. He has encouraged many people to put an end to gun violence. So far tens of thousands of people have signed the petition. President Obama is making an effort to come up with a broader set of serious proposals and encouraging Americans to continue their participation in this important process.

Mrs. Allana Maiden was inspired by her mother; a 21-year breast cancer survivor, to write a petition on behalf of all breast cancer survivors exclaiming that Victoria's Secret should sell comfortable, manageable bras for women who have underwent a mastectomy. Mrs. Maiden's petition has acquired well over 90,000 signatures of those who supported her idea. She believes it is unfortunate that women have to go through so much trouble in order to find one comfortable bra. That being said, Allana thought it was a great idea to conjure up this petition because there are Victoria's Secret stores found at virtually every mall, meaning women will no longer have to face having problems looking for the 'right fit'.

Louisiana presented a petition to the White House demanding that the President allow Louisiana to secede from the United States. More than 675,000 digital signatures appeared on 69 separate secession petitions covering all 50 states. Texas had their own petition as well. But, a spokesperson for Gov. Rick Perry said that he 'does not support the idea of his state striking out on its own.' However, just days after, there were requests filed with the White House to strip citizenship rights from Americans who signed petitions to help states secede.

11 year old Clara Pla was upset she was not able to play football because she's a girl. Therefore, she came up with a plan to petition her rights to play on a football team. Shockingly, over time she has accumulated well over 33,000 signatures. She demanded that she be treated like one of the 'guys' on the team. It is unfair to her that girls aren't allowed to play football, and (if they do happen to be playing) boys take it too easy on them.
