Lily J's insight:

From looking through this article it has told me that there are more scholarships out there than you are aware of. Not all scholarships have to be the same and not all of them are what you would consider your "typical" scholarship. You don't have to give your personal information or write up several essays. Sometimes you just want a scholarship that is fun and can still do the same as other scholarships. I did the "American Fire Sprinkler Association Scholarship Program" and all you had to do was read over a article and then answer 10 questions about it and then your done. It was easy and alot more fun than most scholarships. You don't need to spend hours on one scholarship you just need to open yourself up to different things.

While I don't meet the qualifications for all of these weird Scholarships, it is a good reminder to keep on the lookout for the weird ones and always apply. The little amounts add up, and if you think it is too weird to apply to. The chances are other people thought the same thing and didn't apply! That is less competition, so why not apply, who knows maybe you'll get it.

Lily J's insight:

I find this article very helpful I mean finding different scholarships isn't necessarily easy, but this article helps me by telling me a lot of differnt ways to find scholarships that can apply to anyone and are easy to find.

Most people result in the internet to help them find scholarships and honestly that is what I do. I have alot of trouble finding scholarships that apply to me. I either don't have the right GPA, I may not be the right ethnicity, or I am not old enough but this article says that you can find scholoarships in your everyday life. Some of the things that I didnt know is that I can find scholarships by watching the news, talking to my high school councelor, or even by shopping at a local store. I can stop searching and searching for the perfect scholarship because most likely there are tons right in front of me.

This article will help me find other ways to get scholarships other than the career center and the counselors website.  The article explains different ways to find scholarships like from the place your parents work or even just looking up different scholarships on a search engine.  I will use this article during the scholarship seeking process to give me insight on different routes I can take to find, fill out, and win scholarships to pay for college.

this article was actually very helpful. it never actually occurred to me to ask my family if there workplace provides scholarships, or to look around the checkout counters at places that I shop to see if they offered scholarships. knowing these things will definitely aid in my search for more obscure, less well known scholarships which will increase my chances of winning.

This article was a unique look on how to find and attain scholarships, and gave me a couple more ideas on how to both find better scholarships, and make my scholarship application sound more appealing.  One of the tips I found most surprising was that scholarship opportunities can even be found when you’re shopping.  The next time I shop at Kohl’s, I’ll be sure to look at the flyers and coupons located on the check stands in order to check for scholarship opportunities, such as their $10,000 scholarship called The Kohl’s Cares Scholarship.  The article also mentioned how to use time more efficiently.  For example, I could be using the wasted time I spend watching TV when I eat breakfast in order to find new scholarships. I can also utilize college smartphone apps that look up scholarships for students.

Lily J's insight:

One of the major parts that most people don't like filling out when applying for a scholarship is the essay portion of the scholarship; they find it boring, useless, and long. The fact is though that the essay parts of the scholarship is the most important part of the application. Its how the reader can understand you and know what you go through in life. Dont be afraid to be personal because its the personal information that will make the reader remember you, make you stand out.
