The language spoken in Shetland is very different to any dialect or language spoken on the mainland, Scotland, or England. The language/dialect has many different names and many people find it hard to understand, unless you speak it or have grown up around it.

These are neolithic fishing weights. They were used as weights when fishermen in the 1940's were fishing. All the weights were hand made out of stone and could be almost personalised to how you prefer to fish. This could be changing the size, shape, weight and/or thickness of the stone.

Boats that were used to transport fishermen and their prized catches. These boats, in their time, went from the mainland to the island. Many were owned by families who had fishing businesses, they then hired many other fishermen.
