The Envisioning Foundation here see gamification and open access leading to an increasing digitisation of education and a merging of the virtual and physical classroom. What's interesting to note is the how the authors believe that digitised classrooms will lead to a "disintermediation" between the traditional teachers-student model.

Great social learning graphic though it does itself an injustice by aligning to young people, rather than just people. 

 

Creating learning spaces which are authentic to the learner and which are connected socially and digitally is, for me, central to what teaching should be about - facilitating exploration.
