Corinne McKay explains how to set up the columns in Windows Explorer in order to display the word count of each Microsoft Word document in a folder. As a side note, I want to add that, to get to the View menu in Windows Explorer, you will often need to press Alt on the keyboard first. Also, the names of the columns are localized, so you need to scroll through a rather long list of column names and search for the appropriate translation of "Word count". On the Russian version of Windows, this is "Слова, количество" which is not obvious (one would think that it should be "Количество слов") -- it seems that the column name starts with the translation of "word".
