Increase your Intuition By Learning the Difference Between Emotional Feelings and Gut Feelings

Increase your Intuition By Learning the Difference Between Emotional Feelings and Gut Feelings | Everything is Psychology | Scoop.it
Since the publication in 2011 of my colleague and co-author Robert Sterling’s and my book “What’s Behind Your Belly Button?” on the intelligence of gut feeling responses, I have been combing the web
Martha Love's insight:

"Dr. Daniel Goleman was the first to popularize the understanding in psychology that our feelings and thinking are different and that it is important to learn the difference, to increase Emotional Intelligence, which he linked to success and healthy living. Up until Goleman's work, we had the theories of Type of Dr. Carl Jung that pointed to the difference in Thinking (logic) and Feeling (value) as functions, and, working off that, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Although quite valuable, Jung's theories did not make a clear distinction showing that feelings are in the body and logic in the head brain."

Social: Why Our Brains Are Wired to Connect | KurzweilAI | Everything is Psychology | Scoop.it

n Social, renowned psychologist Matthew Lieberman explores groundbreaking research in social neuroscience revealing that our need to connect with other people is even more fundamental, more basic, than our need for food or shelter.  Because of this, our brain uses its spare time to learn about the social world – other people and our relation to them. It is believed that we must commit 10,000 hours to master a skill.  According to Lieberman, each of us has spent 10,000 hours learning to make sense of people and groups by the time we are ten.

Social argues that our need to reach out to and connect with others is a primary driver behind our behavior.

Martha Love's insight:

I find this book to be extremely important in our understanding of the true nature of our human species.

"... our most private sense of who we are is intimately linked to the important people and groups in our lives.  This wiring often leads us to restrain our selfish impulses for the greater good.  ...

...

Based on the latest cutting edge research, the findings in Social have important real-world implications.  Our schools and businesses, for example, attempt to minimalize social distractions.  But this is exactly the wrong thing to do to encourage engagement and learning, and literally shuts down the social brain, leaving powerful neuro-cognitive resources untapped.  The insights revealed in this pioneering book suggest ways to improve learning in schools, make the workplace more productive, and improve our overall well-being. Elf Magic Mail Book 2

Elf Magic Mail Book 2 | Everything is Psychology | Scoop.it

Read about the origin of the Elven - Faerie Star, who first adopted it as the Elven Star, and the true original magical meaning!

Elf Magic Mail Book 2, The Original Letters of The Elf Queen’s Daughters With Commentary by The Silver Elves This is the second and final book of the Elf Magic Mail, which reproduces in essence the original letters of the Elf Queen’s Daughters. As pointed out in Book 1, the EQD was a group of elves who called themselves a sisterhood, although they were composed of both male and female members, and were active in the mid 1970’s. The Silver Elves who wrote the commentaries and who put together this book were a vortex of that frasority called the Elves of the Southern Woodlands. After the group ceased to exist in a public forum, however, we Silver Elves still stayed in touched with many of our sisters from that era and remain friends to this day. Alas, many of the members have passed on to other lifetimes, including our sister Arwen who was one of the founding members (Arwen founded the EQD along with her sister Elanor). As it happened her son and his family were visiting us at the time of her death.

As stated in this book: "We would like to bring particular attention to the drawing of the winged 7 pointed star in this letter, which these sisters were the first to draw, use and adopt as the elven star (now also called the faerie star). Viewing the 2 legs and 2 arms and head of the human represented by the five points of the traditional 5 pointed pentacle, these sisters added the two wings of the elves as the other two points for a seven pointed star representing elfin evolution and spirituality." This original drawing of the seven pointed elven star is included in Elf Magic Mail Book 2 along with the leter in which it was sent out to the vortexes. (see sample writing below) many more of the letters and drawings in this book are related to the adoption and meaning of the Elven-Faerie Seven Pointed Star first adopted by the two sisters Arwen and Elanor, who founded the EQD.

It is a personal guide to becoming one°s true s°elf as one inwardly knows one°s s°elf to be. What makes this book particularly interesting is that the author considers himself to be an elf, yet he has an astute scientific mind that he uses to psychologically examine his identification with the otherkin world. .
