Preview Thursday: Developing a Positive Culture Where People and Performance Thrive | Everyday Leadership | Scoop.it
The following is an excerpt from Chapter 2 of Developing a Positive Culture Where People and Performance Thrive  Proof for the Positive Let’s see why a positive culture is vital to thriving organizations. The research evidence is compelling and exciting. Maybe some of these findings evoke a “duh” because they resonate with what you intuitively know. …
Joe Boutte's insight:

In this new book, the author explores how positive culture enables thriving people and excellent performance.  This may seem intuitive, but many organizational cultures are anything but positive.  As people seek fulfilling careers in a 21st century, information-driven society, leaders would be wise to focus increasing energy on fostering more positive cultures.  If change is the only constant in life, we should focus on the positive side of change in our teams, groups, and organizations.

Why the Internet Is the Greatest Reflection of Humanity

The months of June and July 2017 were rather full — including wonderful opportunities to join folks at an international data summit in Dublin to discuss the future social implications of machine…
Joe Boutte's insight:

Global everyday leadership requires global interaction.  Dr. David Bray and his growing band of #changeagents affect positive change across our globe every day.  He creates and reverberates thoughtful commentary, news, and engagement to connect people, ideas, and solutions across virtual and physical space.  For example, in this article, he opens some additional "thought doors" on leading through service, leveraging technology for its most ideal purposes, and ideas for trekking through turbulent times.  He brings it all together with a reminder from Federalist #51 (checks and balances), where the brilliant authors (Madison or Hamilton) noted the following:

"A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions. This policy of supplying, by opposite and rival interests, the defect of better motives, might be traced through the whole system of human affairs, private as well as public. We see it particularly displayed in all the subordinate distributions of power, where the constant aim is to divide and arrange the several offices in such a manner as that each may be a check on the other that the private interest of every individual may be a sentinel over the public rights."

We would be wise to pay attention to history, our recurring human nature, and the wisdom of today's #changeagents to create a more perfect global community.

Everyday Matters: The business of leadership

Everyday Matters: The business of leadership | Everyday Leadership | Scoop.it
“It is better to go down on the great seas which human hearts were made to sail than to rot at the wharves in ignoble anchorage.” — Hamilton Wright Mabie (1846-1916), American essayist   Business evolves. It shifts, it shrinks, it grows and it changes. It adjusts to economic cycles, consumer tastes, advances in technology and developments in world politics. But regardless of where a business goes or what it must become, its leadership must draw strength from a few clear and enduring traits.
Joe Boutte's insight:

"Most successful #changeagents carry within them an unwavering commitment to making a difference — a commitment shaped by a clear conviction or vision. Their personal traits — such as an exceptional communication skill, remarkable work ethic, keen insight and awareness of others, or the fortitude to withstand disappointment — contribute to the essence of leadership, which is to inspire and lead others to achieve remarkable things."  - Zakie Shariff, The Edge Malaysia
