USA USA USA!

Most of those who do not live in the US envy those who do.  This may be down to the over the top American movies that show you how parties should be done with red plastic cups, American flags everywhere you turn and beer pong games etc, whether or not that is how it actually is I have chosen to recreate the red, white and blue theme from across the world.

I decided the 4th of July would be the perfect date to host this event as it’s the day Americans go wild for their country so why not join in on the celebrations? Americans love their food so it was a major detail of the event that I had to get just right.  With endless amounts of French fries, hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, cookies and ice cream to ensure the guests would not go home hungry.  I even managed to make the red white and blue cupcakes overly patriotic with the flag themed cupcake liners! It seems strange but when I thought of American parties the first thing that sprung to mind was the red cups they use for drinks, whether that’s down to me watching too many American TV programmes, they looked perfect! I ordered them in abundance as no one can seem to use the same cup once at a party.

This brings me onto the party entertainment which I set up a game of beer pong for those interested.  It’s a great game to get the overly competitive involve.  I set out a large table placing an even amount of cups on each side (red cups of course) each team takes turns attempting to shoot ping pong balls into the opponents cups, if the ball lands in the cup the components cup they must drink what is ever in that cup and it is removed from the table, the first team to eliminate all cups wins and leaves the other team with potentially a sore stomach! Of course this can be played with fruit punches, soft drinks etc if there are younger guests at the party.

The place was decorated in flags everywhere and anywhere they could be hung and bunting wishing my guests a happy 4th of July! Of course all guests had to dress in either red, white and blue or a costume that would look appropriate.  Most people went for the cheerleader look, athletes being either baseball, basketball or American football players. All in all from what the feedback I got my guests had a great time and thought it was a great twist on a normal house party as it gives it more of an edge and a reason to get dressed up.  With my decorations they can be used every year if I fancy using the 4th of July an excuse to host a party!
