Attribute-based selling comes to hotel reservation systems | PhocusWire | eTourism Trends and News | Scoop.it
Attribute-based selling is a concept that has generated buzz in hospitality circles in recent years, and now Amadeus is implementing this strategy as part of its new guest reservation system being adopted by IHG.

Analysts puzzled why Booking Holdings acquired HotelsCombined

Booking Holdings’ intention with the deal will be revealed in the steps it takes with HotelsCombined by either investing in it or gutting it but keeping the name.

Industry experts floated a few theories to explain the acquisition. One was that Booking Holdings wanted to fill some country gaps. The conglomerate may have decided it would be cheaper and faster to acquire a company, HotelsCombined, that was a market leader in select countries than to invest in its metasearch brand Kayak to grow its own share of consumer demand and regional supplier relationships.

Reimagining customer experience, part 1: digital design | PhocusWire | eTourism Trends and News | Scoop.it
Customer experience can be difficult to define, but easy to recognize when it’s missing.

It's become the holy grail that companies seek as a way to stand out from their competition. And for good reason.

In its March survey report, Experience is Everything: Here’s How To Get It Right, PwC found 73% of global respondents say a positive experience is among the key drivers that influence their brand loyalties. And they’re willing to back that up with dollars - consumers would pay as much as 16% more for better customer experience.

Comment les interfaces vocales vont accélérer la transformation digitale – | eTourism Trends and News | Scoop.it

Can your destination’s social media channels damage the environment?

It might sound extreme, but some fear that Instagram and other platforms are “ruining the great outdoors” by drawing an overwhelming number of visitors to fragile sites.

Social media certainly has a powerful influence on visitor behaviour. According to a Google study, 60% of people use it to find travel inspiration. And in one survey of U.K. millennials, “how Instagrammable the holiday will be” ranked as the strongest factor in choosing a holiday destination.
