TEACHERS' ATTITUDES TOWARD COMPUTER-ASSISTED LANGUAG LEARNING IN AUSTRALIA AND SPAIN

A review of the existing literature shows that when it comes to studying attitudes
towards CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning), researchers have traditionally focused on students’ perspectives and ignored teachers’ views. This study focuses on teachers’ attitudes towards CALL in order to gain a better understanding of what issues, advantages, and disadvantages teachers come across when incorporating CALL into their teaching. Furthermore, a group of teachers from Australia and Spain has been interviewed to compare how views on CALL vary across professionals in these two countries. As some authors have previously proved, the more IT literate teachers are, the more likely they are to use CALL in their teaching.

Durante o trabalho que fiz para a conclusão do curso de mestrado em Pedagogia do ELearning, portanto a dissertação, atendendo ao objeto de estudo escolhido para a investigação, um agregador de todas as atividades desenvolvidas durante a parte curricular do curso, explorei várias hipóteses para proceder à análise do mesmo. Uma das teorias foi a da atividade. Fiz leituras e cheguei mesmo a fazer duas capítulos que, depois, por escolha de outros processos de análise, acabaram por não fazer parte do trabalho final. Ainda assim, e porque foram resultado de algumas leituras e trabalho de escrito, decidi, agora que começo a arrumar definitivamente este processo, partilhar aqui o resultado desse breve estudo sobre a teoria da atividade. Estava previsto que esse capítulo fosse designado por Contributos da Teoria da Atividade para o Ensino Oline e tivesse dois sub-capítulos: Apresentação da teoria da atividade e Alguns estudos fundamentados na teoria da atividade. Publicarei de seguida o primeiro subcapítulo, deixando para o post seguinte o segundo sub-capítulo.

Universal Learning Design: A View from Conceptual Goals to the Actual Implementation

"Universal Learning design embraces a number of guidelines for producing educational material that can be enjoyed by all. The design principles do not point to a concept of one solution for all, but rather solutions that can be used by various groups of learners using common tools that can be adjusted to serve a large and disparate community of learners with special needs. In this talk, some of the key concepts of ULD discussed and then design as a foundation for the development of a tool for the blind. In the remainder of the talk the key elements of the learning tool will be discussed in light of the ULD guidelines. During the discussion of the actual tool, the audience will be encouraged to make formal notes on their assessment of the task. At the end of the talk, audience participants will be free to make salient comments."

Resumo:"Não há dúvidas de que a educação a distância (EAD) é uma realidade no cenário educacional nos diferentes níveis de ensino, sendo objeto das políticas públicas das últimas décadas. Apesar da expansão da EAD, sobretudo pelo desenvolvimento das tecnologias de informação e comunicação (TIC), e da internet, as desconfianças em torno dessa modalidade de ensino são muitas, entre elas sobre a própria capacidade de ensinar e aprender em Ambientes Virtuais de Aprendizagem (AVA). Nesse sentido, a EAD desperta, cada vez mais, a curiosidade dos pesquisadores da área da educação que a fazem objeto de estudos. Entre as preocupações desses pesquisadores está a utilização dessa modalidade na democratização do acesso ao ensino superior, em especial nos cursos de licenciatura e formação continuada de professores e a possibilidade de massificação e esvaziamento dessa formação.(...)Considerando a expansão modalidade a distância no Brasil, sobretudo com a lei de diretrizes e bases da educação nacional, a 9394/96, que incentiva o desenvolvimento e a veiculação de programas de educação a distância em todos os níveis e modalidades de ensino e educação continuada, este trabalho espera fomentar as discussões sobre o tema, na medida em que permite identificar as contribuições desses artigos para a EAD, bem como as lacunas a serem preenchidas pelos pesquisadores pela identificação de temas importantes com menor incidência."

Trends in Educational Technologies

This report aims to evaluate key technological trends in higher education, and explore
the benefits of their use, as well as some of the considerations
institutions need to make before their implementation.
Horizon scanning techniques were used to identify suitable sources , and trends
identified by reviewing state - of - science reports, academic articles, media articles and blog posts
by institutions and commentators working in the field. Academic articles and reports were sourced
using LSE Library’s catalogue and Google scholar, while blogs and media articles were sourced using
search engines and hashtag searches on Twitter. Please see the methodology section for further
details.

Four key technological trends were identified through this method; Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD), Gamification and Games
- based learning and Learning Analytics. The use and impact of social media on higher education will be considered separately in a future report.

Mode based Course Design for effective Blended Learning Approaches

Abstract—Blended learning has come off, more or less, as the most logical and natural evolution of our learning systems. It suggests an elegant solution to the challenges of tailor ing elearning environment to face to face learning environment. It represents an opportunity to integrate the innovative and technological advances offered by online learning with the interaction and participation offered in the best of traditional learning. It can be supported and enhanced by using the wisdom and one to one interaction of personal coaches. Believe it or not, the relevance of the pedagogy used in relaying knowledge cannot be over emphasised. Also, it has long been recognized that specialized delivery technologies can provide efficient and timely access to learning materials. A teacher handling face to face students might be able to discern when they are getting the message by their countenances or when they don’t seem toby their reactions.How would an elearning teacher meet the needs of their students psychologically, morally, socially and even academically since they cannot see each other? That brought the needs for the blended knowledge of ensuring that there is a predefined method of t ransferring idea to online students in such a way that the needs of these students are met. This is to fill such gap. This research considered the following four stages as paramount to the development and practice of blended elearning which was adapted from IBM 4tier: learning from information, learning from interaction, learning from collaboration, and learning from collocation.
