Some good stuff here on how to tell the fake/poser influencers from the real deal: "After interacting with them, you may think about the world differently. Over time, you can see their ideas growing and evolving to reflect changing conditions in the world. You can disagree with them, but you cannot in good conscience ignore them."

Godin isn't right in that this low volume approach doesn't work for publishers, but it can be very effective for smaller brands and any individuals looking to narrowcast to reach a potent niche audience with content. It's worked for me :)

One of several pieces that highlight how the tweetstream can be manipulated. This is one reason why event hashtags are also problematic for brands - it's hard to get a clear sense of what is happening anymore. Too much compulsive retweeeting and too many obscured agendas.
