"It’s About the Effort you put in" | ENG4C | Scoop.it

On Tuesday May 15 2012 Troy Parkes and Heather Sienegner two financial planners from sun life paid a visit to a Mr. Rodrigues grade 12 English class to talk about their career and how they got to where they are now. Heather grew up in a family where both of her parents were financial planners and she saw what happiness her parents portrayed throughout their life, this caused her to find a passion for being a financial planner she went to a private school in Kitchener and went to university but figured out that university was not for her so she ended up transferring to Conestoga for her second year and chose to study financial planning. Shortly after both graduating from conestoga both Troy and Heather got hired at sun life financial. Heather and Troy brought up that they are their own boss, they get to make up their own hours they can stay in the office all day and night or they can leave whenever they wish to leave. It’s About the Effort you put in, if you work hard and stay focused then your salary will show that but if you leave after a few hours every night and choose days and weeks not to come in to the office then your salary won’t be very large. Being a financial planner takes a lot of social skills you have to be a very sociable person because you go out and network with different people who will potentially be trusting you with their money so it is important to make a good first impression.
