Power sector discusses future of NCRE in Chile at international congress

Power sector discusses future of NCRE in Chile at international congress | Energy | Scoop.it

Electric industry representatives gathered at the 2nd International Renewable Energy Congress in Chile, Cirec 2013, on Tuesday September 10. The event continues today with presentations by distinguished speakers

The main industry projections NCRE were addressed by leading experts in the 2nd International Renewable Energy Congress in Chile, Cirec 2013, on Tuesday September 10.

At the meeting, Pancho Perez, President, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America for SunEdison, said NCRE can not solve the energy crisis by rushing through the country in the medium term, but can help reduce costs .

"In the coming years, global industry estimated annual growth of 20% in the solar system installations worldwide, meanwhile, expects investments in the solar industry around U.S. $ 100 billion by 2015" expressed on the sidelines of the conference.

In this regard, Alfredo Solar, CEO of Acciona Energy Chile, welcomed the recent adoption of the Law 20/25, which sets a goal of a 20% share of NCRE 2025. "The actual law will allow the insertion of NCRE to the matrix of the country, giving way to non-conventional renewable energy to be real part of the solution to the impending energy crisis that the country could live in the short term," he said.

"NCRE have outstanding attributes. One of these is the price, as both wind and solar energy can sell their energy to 95 U.S. $ / MWh, considering that more than 14,000 MW of NCRE projects in the Environmental Evaluation System (DES), "Solar said.

The meeting, which runs until September 11 this also includes business meetings among project developers.
