The three stages of leadership | London Business School | Empresas y Negocios | Scoop.it
How do we promote our leaders? How do we decide that a person is ready to take on a role with a brand new remit and unfamiliar responsibilities? We do it trusting that a person will succeed, based on often nothing more than a hunch. “But wait!” I hear you cry. “People are promoted based on their success in their current role. It’s how it works everywhere.” This is true. People are promoted to the next level based on their previous performance. But does this make sense?

Content Strategist Success Story: 6 Keys to a Great Content Strategy

Content Strategist Success Story: 6 Keys to a Great Content Strategy | Empresas y Negocios | Scoop.it

We’ve managed to outrank competitors in Google that have $9+ million in outside funding with our little self-funded, 40-person content creation agency, by an immense 3 percent. We rank organically for more than 11,000 key terms, with organic search visibility worth $57,000+ monthly.

And we haven’t paid a penny in ads — across six years — to gain the majority of our leads and clientele. They’ve come straight from these rankings.

How well do they convert? Very well.

After optimizing my strategy and increasing my content investment, we had the best sales month we’ve ever had and now my agency is on track to break our first seven figure year.

99 percent of our leads come through organic content marketing. I’ve never invested a single dollar in PPC....

Online Business Analysis: Six Important On-site Metrics (and How to Improve Them)

Online Business Analysis: Six Important On-site Metrics (and How to Improve Them) | Empresas y Negocios | Scoop.it
Whichever way you spin it, far too many marketers get caught up chasing relatively unimportant metrics. I don’t care if you’ve grown your website from one million to four million visitors, how has it impacted your bottom line?

Profit is, and will always be, the most important metric for any business – online or offline. Profit gives you sanity.
Despite profit’s underlying importance, it isn’t the only business metric worth tracking. After all, you can interpret a lot about the state of your business from a wide range of metrics.

Today, I want to cut through the unimportant metrics and straight to the good stuff: six on-site metrics that all online businesses should be tracking. I’ll also be providing some quick tips on how to improve your performance for each one....

CEOs are finally embracing social. What does it mean to you? | Mark Schaefer

CEOs are finally embracing social. What does it mean to you? | Mark Schaefer | Empresas y Negocios | Scoop.it

An analysis found that 80 percent of the CEOs of the world’s largest 50 companies are engaged online and on social media, more than double of what the same study found in 2010.

The findings are interesting because not long ago being social was once considered too risky, the article said. CEOs feared that saying the wrong thing online would ignite a firestorm of antagonists, dissatisfied customers, and disgruntled employees, who could threaten the company’s reputation. Now, having a digital strategy integrated across multiple channels is the new mandate to neutralize criticism. It’s become more important to transparently tell the company’s story and join the conversation.

Research  shows that five significant trends over the past five years have contributed to CEOs’ increased sociability....

Top 6 Disruptive Marketing Trends for 2015 | Empresas y Negocios | Scoop.it

It’s going to be one of the most interesting years ahead. There are disruptive marketing trends ahead and this list starts to build on the platform of sharing, something I’m very interested in and will be focusing even more on in 2015. The Content Marketing Pyramid: Create More With Less

The Content Marketing Pyramid: Create More With Less | Empresas y Negocios | Scoop.it

These days, content marketing teams are expected to create content in all shapes and sizes. Following the advice of content marketing sages, we’re posting tweets every few hours, blogging every day, podcasting every week, publishing an eBook every month… and the list goes on. Trying to keep up with the seemingly insatiable demand, content teams often feel overwhelmed and stretched too thin. Even worse, all this frenetic activity often lacks an underlying strategy or focus.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Back in 2010, I proposed the Content Marketing Pyramid — a strategy that allows you to get more out the door with the same effort. It’s done by combining infrequent, time-intensive content with low-effort, recurring content....

As a visionary leader, you need to be your organization’s oracle, driving its performance down a pioneering path into the future. To be a positive, transformational leader you need a clear vision if your organization is going to survive and thrive. But you and the vision are indistinguishable. Without a clear vision, you won’t last. And without a visionary leader, neither will the vision.

The future of your organization is in its Culture of Learning

The future of your organization is in its Culture of Learning | Empresas y Negocios | Scoop.it
Managers, leaders, and employees are all a part of that culture. But as a member of a team, you know what’s happening better than anyone. So, what can you do with all the information you have? What can you do to help your company continue into the foreseeable future? One part of the answer, if not the main part, is the culture of learning in the organization.

Learning is everywhere. I learn everyday in my job and I think most other people do as well. We all have to learn somehow or our jobs become boring, or even worse, we don’t do them very well anymore.

So, as a member of a team with a strong learning culture, what can you do to help yourself and others learn more effectively? How can you help your company create a strong and better culture of learning? More importantly, how do you harness that learning power and help it propel you into the future? Again, those precogs. It’s just between you and me. There have to be answers somewhere!

Smart marketers know that they need to get ahead of the trends and anticipate the next big things, or else be devoured by their competitors. Generally speaking, the only info the 'general public' gets about our industry is when somebody like Bill Ackman tries to bring down a company like Herbalife.

But MLM and DS people do a lot of good too and the industry pumps a lot of money into local economies. I'm going to spin this article for our pub.

I think the MLM and DS industry isn't as proactive as it could be in their PR.
