The use of Realistic Simulation in mining helps improve the safety of mines while also allowing key resources to be extracted in a much more environmentally friendly manner.

 

Why is this relevant to the energy industry? For one, for the foreseaable future the world will continue to rely on coal as a major energy source. So given this fact, it makes sense to use better methods to minimize the negative impacts of coal even as we continue to develop better technologies and newer sources of energy. 

 

Also keep in mind that newer energy sources will need inceasing amounts of metals and minerals that will likely continue to have to be mined and so once again anything we can do help improve the safety and efficiency of mining operations is good overall.
