Kamri.M.Owens's insight:
Children's Health Fund Celebrity Supporters & Events

Children’s Health Fund, founded in 1987 by pediatrician/child advocate Irwin Redlener, MD, and singer/songwriter Paul Simon, is committed to providing comprehensive health care to the nation’s most medically underserved children through the development and support of innovative primary care medical programs and the promotion of guaranteed access to appropriate health care for all children.

For more than 20 years, Paul Simon has been an advocate for America’s most vulnerable children. And, with Paul’s support, Children’s Health Fund has grown to become a respected national organization that is not only delivering health care to at-risk children but also providing a voice for them as well.

Through the years, Paul has held multiple charity concerts and benefit events supporting CHF. He has traveled to the nation’s capital to speak to elected officials on behalf of CHF and America’s children. Paul traveled with CHF teams responding to the crisis in the Gulf following Hurricane Katrina and was witness to the devastation in the region.

My letter about Ellen

My letter about Ellen | Ellen DeGeneres | Scoop.it
Kamri.M.Owens's insight:
Ellen DeGeneres was born on January 26, 1958 in Louisiana. Although she is a stand up comedian, she is also a very helpful person for the community. In 2003 Ellen returned to television with a talk show called “Ellen.” On this show she talks about everything form education and what is going on in the world, all the way down to sex. I look at Ellen as a multitalented person contributing to many things at once. The thing that stands at the most to me is how she generously gives out to the community. Ellen has raised funds for Red Cross, Malaria, and children with cancer. She has contributed or helped with many different organizations. With that being said, Ellen reminds me of Martin Luther King because of her sincere heart, and her eagerness to help someone else in whatever way she can.

Kamri.M.Owens's insight:
Malaria No More Celebrity Supporters & Events

Malaria No More’s mission is simple: to end deaths due to malaria. The world has known how to beat this disease for more than a century, yet it remains the number one killer of children under five in sub-Saharan Africa, claiming more than 1 million lives a year. Malaria No More engages individuals, organizations, and corporations in the private sector to provide life-saving bed nets and other critical interventions to families in need. Together these investments will significantly reduce malaria infections and make malaria-related deaths a thing of the past.

Founded in 2006 by leading non-governmental institutions, Malaria No More works in partnership with the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), UNICEF, the American Red Cross, the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Millennium Promise, United Way of America, United Nations Foundation, the Global Business Coalition, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundationand others.

Sportsmen David Beckham and Andy Murray are founding members of the Malaria No More UK Leadership Council, while Victoria Beckham wore the charity’s mosquito ring to raise funds helping to save lives in Africa.

The charity has been the beneficiary charity for the UK’s “I’m a Celebrity…” TV show – hosted by Ant & Dec – for the last 3 years
