Battle Over Ultra Music Fest’s 2nd Weekend Goes To Miami City Hall | Electronic Dance Music Festivals | Scoop.it

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Thursday, the Miami City Commission will consider a resolution to disapprove of the Bayfront Park Management Trust’s decision to grant approval of the second weekend of the Ultra Music Festival.

According to city code, the commission can override the Trust and, if the resolution passes, organizers won’t be allowed to hold the festival for the second weekend.

Ultra organizers say the music festival brings a $79 million economic boom to the area every year and have readied their defense...

Ultra has become so popular that they have expanded the dates the past few years to two consecutive weekends. I can only imagine what the week in between must be like. As its stated in this article, with a wopping $79 million coming in from two weekends, its hard for people in Miami's City Hall to say no to such an event.

Cameron Siegel's insight:

This relates to my topic because it touches on the drug activity that plagues EDM festivals. In the past few years the amount of designer drugs and drug use by younger Americans has been on the rise. This article was posted to youredm.com, which is a pretty reputable source but Scoop.it says it was retrieved through news.google.com. This means that the credibility of the source is not completely credible.
