How flipped learning works in (and out of) the classroom

How flipped learning works in (and out of) the classroom | eLearning | Scoop.it

Flipped learning is more than just having students do homework during the school day. It’s more than just putting the onus on students to teach themselves. In fact, it’s neither of those things. Don’t be fooled by simple explanations of flipped classrooms that simplify a highly complex undertaking.

robyns tut's curator insight, September 21, 2013 9:51 AM

I think people are very quick to like something on Facebook or comment whatever they are feeling because they can. People need to remember that the things you like on Facebook and the things you say are seen by friends and if you have not activated your account as private, by the world. It is just like in the real world where you must be careful what you say and remember that when you upload, comment or like something online. It may just come back to haunt you.

What if we asked our students about the type of work they would prefer to do while in class? It may reveal a lot about what choices they would make for assignments and activities and why they make these choices.

Some really good thoughts! We certainly do need to change the way we use software/apps and allow students to have greater power in deciding which apps to use and how they use them. As teachers, we are not always the expert on how to use apps!

I'm beginning to love it - but I love change - some good and some the jury is still out :-)
Justin Henriks's comment, September 24, 2013 2:28 AM
Many people are upset by changes because it is not what we are used to and it can make life more difficult. However, changes in the long run are usually seen as positive. I personally love iOS 7 and the important thing is that my students are so thrilled about the changes to their iPads - that is all that matters!

The Impact of Digital Tools on Student Writing

The Impact of Digital Tools on Student Writing | eLearning | Scoop.it

These teachers see the internet and digital technologies such as social networking sites, cell phones and texting, generally facilitating teens’ personal expression and creativity, broadening the audience for their written material, and encouraging teens to write more often in more formats than may have been the case in prior generations.  At the same time, they describe the unique challenges of teaching writing in the digital age, including the “creep” of informal style into formal writing assignments and the need to better educate students about issues such as plagiarism and fair use.

I don't think that Minecraft is good! It is a video game not a education tool! I think that teachers should get students outside and enjoy nature while it lasts!!!

AMPA Santa Teresa. 's curator insight, October 29, 2013 6:30 AM
