No dia em que não mais houver motivos para os formadores de formadores não usarem essa tecnologia, os professores das escolas da Educação Básica também não os terão. Low-Cost Gamification For Adult Learners - eLearning Industry

Low-Cost Gamification For Adult Learners - eLearning Industry | Edtech | Scoop.it
Wondering how to gamify your eLearning courses for adult leanrers at low cost? Check 7 tips on low-cost Gamification for adult learners.
Miranda Embleton-Smith's insight:

Many people think that eLearning gamification means incorporating actual games in virtual courses. Although games do complete the gamification process, eLearning gamification isn’t limited to including actual games. In fact, gamification of any activity only needs to include the crucial game elements that actually target the skills discussed in the specific course. Game elements include:

Levels of progress.Virtual points.Rewards.Avatars.Narratives.Competitions.

The game elements mentioned above encourage adult learners to utilize their skills in solving a problem. Unlike traditional eLearning techniques, eLearning gamification transforms the learner from a passive absorber of information to an active participant in creating strategic solutions. Gamification increases engagement and motivates learner to think out-of-the box.

Why build a Personal Learning Network?

Why build a Personal Learning Network? | Edtech | Scoop.it
Time spent developing your Personal Learning Network is time well spent but it does take time. The danger busy teachers face is in becoming so engrossed in dealing with the day to day business of teaching that we make poor choices when it comes to time spent on our personal learning. We manage to find time for our students, for phone calls home, for report writing and programming all the while letting our engagement with learning slip down the list of things to do. Ensuring your personal learning is a priority is essential and should be seen against the value it brings to your students; enhance your teaching and you enhance their learning.

Munro, Hopkins and Craig recognise this when they state ‘Student outcomes depend on the teaching in the school, its pedagogic capital’. For you, your school and most importantly your students time invested in building a Personal Learning Network is time spent developing your pedagogic capital.

A great article ensuring that Educators make time to continually invest time into their own learning practices. Information is always changing, being updated,  being expanded, or being debated, so educators need to be aware of these adjustments. By analysing their knowledge and beliefs on certain topics and researching other perspectives educators will show growth and critical thinking in their own learning strategies.

Computers Look Like an Obstacle to Learning - Bloomberg View

Computers Look Like an Obstacle to Learning - Bloomberg View | Edtech | Scoop.it
An OECD study found that more technology in classrooms produced weaker test results.
Miranda Embleton-Smith's insight:

"Schools and education systems are, on average, not ready to leverage the potential of technology. Gaps in the digital skills of both teachers and students, difficulties in locating high-quality digital learning resources from among a plethora of poor-quality ones, a lack of clarity on the learning goals and insufficient pedagogical preparation for blending technology meaningfully into lessons and curricula create a wedge between expectations and reality. If these challenges are not addressed as part of the technology plans of schools and education ministries, technology may do more harm than good to the teacher-student interactions that underpin deep conceptual understanding and higher-order thinking.

In most cases, teachers are better off sticking to imparting universal concepts and reasoning skills. Students will figure out how to apply them online, or in any other environment. Working on digital skills may be useful -- a generation of Excel wizards appears to be emerging in Norway, for example -- but tech is developing so fast that these skills could become as obsolete as, say, analog photography expertise is today."
