Priorities PAC, a liberal Super PAC, will release its first ad on broadcast and cable television stations tomorrow. The 30-second spot is a feel-good narrative about State Treasurer Beth Pearce.

“Priorities PAC is following through with what voters expect it to do,” Bailey said. “Voters will know which group is transparent and which one is hiding what they were doing. ”

Sen. Sanders: Voters must defeat right-wing extremism | SeacoastOnline.com | Education Worker | Scoop.it

PORTSMOUTH — The lower level of South Church was packed with an enthusiastic crowd as U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., rallied for the re-election of President Obama.

But, he said, getting Obama re-elected would not be enough. "It is absolutely imperative that we defeat right-wing extremism," he said. "Second, we have to build an educated, politically informed movement to put pressure on the White House and say you have to worry about us and not just the guys on Wall Street."

Mike Klonsky's SmallTalk Blog: Obama's horrible interview with Savannah Guthrie | Education Worker | Scoop.it

Those -- "I'll put on my walking shoes" to protect collective bargaining rights -- days are long gone, especially now that big-city Democrats are replacing Tea Party governors in the vanguard of the war against public employee unions. Instead, the president gives us something right out of Rahm Emanuel's current TV ads, which are being underwritten by DFER hedge-funders.

The radical right-wing roots of Occupy Wall Street

The radical right-wing roots of Occupy Wall Street | Education Worker | Scoop.it
Both the Occupy and Tea Party movements can trace their origins to the same man: Karl Hess, who moved from being the most radical of right-wing Goldwater Republicans to a left-wing libertarian railing against the hold of the superrich on America.

Goldwater’s beloved speechwriter Karl Hess, moved into a houseboat, renounced politics altogether and dedicated the rest of his life to peacefully protesting the concentration of political and economic power in the hands of the new aristocracy he dubbed “the one percent.”

You read that right: The first guy to call the 99 percent to arms was the author of a speech that claimed: “Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice.” Goldwater had fondly referred to Hess as “my Shakespeare.”

CPS student Celena Rodriguez: "I don't think teachers shouldn't have to work extra for free, as no other people would do that. No one is willing to work for free, no matter their profession.

We as students must stand together with our teachers. They spent their time and money paying to get an education so they can educate us with the best education that they can offer us. But their voices are ignored too. When we stand and march with our teachers, we fight for both teachers and students voices being heard."

Celena Rodriguez is a 17 year old senior at Gage Park High School on Chicago's Southside.
