How MOOCs Could Meet the Challenge of Providing a Global Education

How MOOCs Could Meet the Challenge of Providing a Global Education | Education: Photography Learning Perks | Scoop.it

One of the major challenges for MOOCs—which so far mostly come from U.S. universities—is to tailor the content of courses to a diverse worldwide audience with any number of combinations of language, educational, motivational, and cultural backgrounds. Critics fear the rise of big box education from only a few elite institutions in Western nations, and worry these may not fit the different learning styles in different nations.

Sheila Mullen's insight:

Even if you are not thinking of becoming a Photo Technition Adobe Lightroom is for you.  I was introduced to this Product by one of my Professors and have been using it as a photo archive ever since.  Now instead of looking through a mass of cd's for a photo, or losing pictures to damaged or lost cd's.  With a simple keyword I can locate a picture taken years ago, touch up and do any number of things to ad a style of my own to my pictures. Whether you use Lightroon for work or just for archiving this is the program for you.

Photo Lab- Our hours or their hours?

Take responsibility for our photo lab

Sheila Mullen's insight:

As college students, we have many responsibilities that face us day in and day out. Working full or part time, going to class, and scheduling  photo lab time too makes for  a busy life. At Cypress College, we are fortunate to have flexible hours at the photo lab which allows us to work on meeting our class requirement hours each semester, but did you know that the state monitors when our lab is and is not being used?  If we use the lab on a continuous basis and not wait till the end of the semester to meet our requirement hours then our lab should not face the possibility of being controlled by the government. Yet, if we choose to wait till the end of the semester to meet our lab requirements, then we face the possibility of having a strict schedule of when the lab can be used which in turn may cause conflicts with either our work or class schedules. So the choice of how our photo lab is run depends on us the students and our willingness to work hard to get to the photo lab as often as we can. I don't know about you, but I like the flexibility and do not want the state to be in charge of our photo lab.
