Opposition to the Nazis - Sophie Scholl

This would be good to use in a lesson dealing with German resistance to Hitler. Too many American students have this mistaken belief that every German was a Nazi and supported Hitler. This is a travesty. They need to know that Germans tried to resist but it was difficult. I especially like the use of the movie "Sophie Scholl - The Last Days" in the video.

Bonus scheme degrades teachers' sense of team spirit

Bonus scheme degrades teachers' sense of team spirit | Education HodgePodge | Scoop.it

This is a load of crap. I was in the Army for 21 years and there's NO PLACE that requires more teamwork than in the military. There are many people receiving bonuses in the Army and it NEVER degraded performance, was divisive, or destroyed teamwork. If you're going to fight against bonus pay then do so legitimately, not with non sequitors & red herrings.

I Learned to Speak Four Languages in a Few Years: Here's How

I Learned to Speak Four Languages in a Few Years: Here's How | Education HodgePodge | Scoop.it

I love speaking foreign languages. As a child I tried to learn Vulcan & Elven. As an adult, I speak fluent English (duh), German, and was trained in Arabic (can't remember any of it). I also speak some Spanish and can read Dutch. This is some great stuff here and may try it myself to refresh my Arabic and learn Chinese and French.

----------------------------------------

Lifehacker reader Gabriel Wyner was tasked with learning four languages in the past few years for his career as an opera singer, and in the process landed on "a pretty damn good method for language learning that you can do in limited amounts of...

Successful Teaching: Laughter in the Classroom

Successful Teaching: Laughter in the Classroom | Education HodgePodge | Scoop.it

Teaching in an alternative school with very volatile students can be a challenge.  Laughter is one of the best methods I use to bring down the stress level in the classroom. If you can't laugh at yourself or always take yourself seriously, you got issues and need to get out of teaching.
