Create an eBook from Online Articles

Create an eBook from Online Articles | Education | Scoop.it

This is a great way to create eBooks from your own online content or from any content you find online.
You can create and share reading lists for courses. Create your own eBooks of yours or your students' stories. Create your own collection of your favourite articles. Collect a reading list of articles to read when you don't have an Internet connection. Webpages that you capture in this way can be much easier to read and of course you have all the eBook's mark up and note taking functions which will store all your annotations on the eBooks you create.

Peg Gillard's curator insight, October 27, 2013 9:51 PM

We are so far removed from inquiry based classrooms that curiosity is but a shadow. Students wait to be fed the learning, which isn't true learning if it is fed. True learning comes from asking our own questions and setting out on a quest to unravel the riddle we have created.

Drora Arussy's curator insight, October 28, 2013 4:10 PM

Thinking about a lack of thinking

Thinking about a lack of thinking | Education | Scoop.it

Lately I have been thinking a lot about thinking.  More specifically, I have been thinking hard about the absence of thought in education. The absence of thought in students, teachers, administrators and policy-makers. This year’s political discourse is a wider-world reminder of the ubiquitous lack of thought on the part of otherwise educated adults. We know more but are oddly – increasingly? – thoughtless. Why?

John Dalziel's insight:

If practitioners are looking for some online mathematics practice activities for their learners, Maths Frame could be useful to them.
To enjoy using the site, it's important that practitioners provide some instruction on how to use the site. They need to make sure that learners know where the "full screen" and "next" buttons are located or they might not enjoy using the resources.

- addition,
- subtraction,
- multiplication, and
- division.
There are also some games for practicing...
- recognition,
- probability, and
- scale reading.
NOTE: the games can be played without registering on the site BUT, Some of the games are labeled as as "subscribers only." Those games are not free.
