MoveNote is an excellent free web and mobile app that allows you to create embeddable video presentations that include your video alongside a set of slides or pictures that you have pre-selected.

MoveNote is very easy to use. You first upload your PowerPoint slides or individual images and then you start recording your live video by explaining while you highlight and move through the slides.

Once completed you can save the composite recording and share it or embed on any website or blog.

MoveNote connects directly to your Dropbox, Google Drive or BOX account as well as with Gmail and Microsoft email clients.

Free to use.

NC Community Colleges: Not keeping up (funding-wise)

NC Community Colleges: Not keeping up (funding-wise) | Education and Tech Tools | Scoop.it

RALEIGH – North Carolina’s community colleges are respected and loved by their communities – 58 colleges spread throughout the state, within a 30-minute drive of 95% of North Carolinians. And they are a critical link in North Carolina’s workforce and economic development.

Becky Roehrs's insight:

Yep, the NC General Assembly provides less and less support for NC community college students (they keep the student tuition and dole back some to the community colleges), and faculty pay is actually going down, down, down. Faculty are paid less than NC K-12 teachers, and often have to have a Master's degree to teach.

Say Goodbye to Old Google Forms

Say Goodbye to Old Google Forms | Education and Tech Tools | Scoop.it

The current version of Google Forms has been available for almost three years. But change is hard and so there are still people using the old "Classic" version of Google Forms.

Becky Roehrs's insight:

Usually, I like to try new things, but not when it affects items I've already created..so starting Aug 22, we're going to have to use the "new" format or version of Google Forms. Your "old" forms and data are still there-it just looks  a bit different..

Goo.gl Is Being Shut Down - 5 Alternatives

Goo.gl Is Being Shut Down - 5 Alternatives | Education and Tech Tools | Scoop.it

Thanks to a Tweet from Tony Vincent I learned that Google announced the impending closure of the Goo.gl URL shortening service.

Becky Roehrs's insight:

Ouch-I missed this-Google is no longer supporting Goo.gl. If you use it, you have until March 30, 2019 to move your shortened links somewhere else, like bit.ly, which I use, since it saves the links and you can check how many people are using the link.
