Artifical Intelligence, the Future of Work, and Implications for Education

Artifical Intelligence, the Future of Work, and Implications for Education | Educating us | Scoop.it
Human life is about more than work and productivity. The value of a human life is not measured by that person’s demand in the workforce. I believe that we are wise to reinforce and celebrate this message. We can also strive to create deeply human and compassionate communities where people learn and connect.

As far as technology itself and education is concerned, technology is basically neutral. It’s like a hammer. The hammer doesn’t care whether you use it to build a house or whether on torture, using it to crush somebody’s skull, the hammer can do either.

The Textbook Is Dying. Meet the Artificially Intelligent Software That’s Replacing It.  | Educating us | Scoop.it
“This fall Pearson introduced an “immersive digital learning tool” called Revel that reimagines the textbook as a multimedia experience replete with videos, interactive exercises, and animated infographics. The goal, Pearson’s Stephen Frail tells me, is to make the course materials “more compelling than Facebook,” which after all is only “one click away” whenever a student is doing coursework on her computer or tablet.”

25 Best Education Apps for the iPad - Daily Genius

25 Best Education Apps for the iPad - Daily Genius | Educating us | Scoop.it
One of the very best learning tools ever made in the history of mankind is sitting on a table, couch, bed, or in your hands right now. If you think your iPad is just a toy, you’re only half-right at best since that is perhaps one of the best computers available right now.

That’s right; it’s a computer just like your desktop or laptop, as well as your mobile phone. You get screen size and portability all in one, and that is exactly what you need in a learning tool.

With its convenience and power all in one package, you should make the most of it as a learning tool right now and download some apps that will help you expand your understanding of the world and become a more complete human being, as well as help others do the same.

Here are 25 of the best educational apps for the iPad available right now

Games are what they are...games. Making them relevant and an addition for enhancement is the key AFTER appropriate strategies for learning are in place. What are your thoughts? Agree or disagree?

Ryan McDonough's curator insight, July 7, 2014 7:51 AM

Geared for elementary students, there's a few flash type games that can help students with spelling, writing, and math. For review purposes, I tried Shot Clock. I just so happen to love basketball. It offers addition, subraction, multiplication, or division problems. After the question is displayed, you must use the answer to know which basket to shoot at. Not to toot my own horn or anything but I had today's highest score with 41 points. Can you beat it? Pics or it didn't happen...
