EdTechSandyK: Create Short Animated Videos for Learning With the Tellagami App

EdTechSandyK: Create Short Animated Videos for Learning With the Tellagami App | Educating children | Scoop.it

by Sandy Kendall

"Through a teacher and an educational technologist in my school district, I've recently discovered the Tellagami app for creating short animated videos. The video below is only the third Gami (the app maker's term for a finished product) which I have created. I was able to learn the app very quickly this weekend in preparation for introducing it to secondary fine arts teachers from my school district this morning. I won't take time in this post to teach you how to use Tellagami, because the app gives you a very nice tutorial the first time you launch it. There are also good instructions included on the Tellagami website. "

In Search of Sticky Notes for Digital Readers | Educating children | Scoop.it

This sticking point remains: What do we do about the students who are eager to use their Kindles, Nooks, and iPads for their independent reading? What are they supposed to do with their pads of florescent Post-its, attach them to the screen?

Howard Gardner: ‘Multiple intelligences’ are not ‘learning styles’

Howard Gardner: ‘Multiple intelligences’ are not ‘learning styles’ | Educating children | Scoop.it
The famed psychologist explains why one is not the other though they are often confused.

1.       Individualize your teaching as much as possible. Instead of “one size fits all,” learn as much as you can about each student, and teach each person in ways that they find comfortable and learn effectively. Of course this is easier to accomplish with smaller classes. But ‘apps’ make it possible to individualize for everyone.

Read more, a MUST!!!

Howard Gardner asks teachers to Drop the term “styles.” It will confuse others and it won’t help either you or your students.

Shafali Anand's comment, October 25, 2013 6:09 AM
Of course they aren't. They are the raw material that come together and result in learning styles. I've got to read this :)
Shafali Anand's comment, October 25, 2013 6:18 AM
Read it. I've always found Gardner's MI theory interesting - because it's a great equalizer - when I was growing up logical-mathematical intelligence (in Gardner's terminology) was given the highest importance - art, music, sports etc. were considered talents/gifts - and not intelligences. Gardner made them more respectable by calling them intelligences. This is why I too can call myself intelligent today - visually and spatially intelligent. Ahem!

So interesting how even watches are now being equiped with smartphone technology. Its also quite interesting to see what major companies have invested in a slimilar concept. Soon a watch won't simply be a watch anymore.

Raven Lunderman's comment, October 23, 2013 12:03 PM
Why would a watch even be used for something that a phone can do? Watches already have enough additions to them besides telling time now, it seems pointless.
robyns tut's curator insight, November 25, 2013 10:12 AM

Although this is an amazing idea and i doubt I would refuse one if able to get one, it makes me wonder how much more attached to and dependent upon technology and instantaneous access to information while often missing what is happening in the place we are in and the people we are with - Justine Pearce

Seagate demos HAMR tech to produce 20TB hard drives by 2020

Seagate demos HAMR tech to produce 20TB hard drives by 2020 | Educating children | Scoop.it

Seagate Technology will demonstrate HAMR, a technology it's counting on to fit more data onto hard disk drives. Using current technology, the data density of a typical hard drive platter is expected to max out at about 1 terabit per square inch, which means that not a lot more terabytes of data will be squeezed into traditional hard drives.
