Que las necesidades de formación de las personas y las exigencias de los puestos de trabajo están cambiando es evidente. La cuestión es si la escuela se está adaptando a esta dinámica de cambio tan vertiginosa. No porque haya de adaptarse al último producto de moda, sino porque tiene que formar a sus alumnos de acuerdo con las necesidades reales de la sociedad. Cuando esto no ocurre se dice que el sistema no es funcional.

There is no shortage of predictions for the upcoming year of 2015. Micro-credentials, digital wearables and mobile learning are just a few of the many. Yet predictions are notorious for misleading and even wildly inaccurate assurances. But analyzing trends across industries in conjunction with developments within a sector—the education sector in this instance, is far more constructive and strategic than considering stand-alone predictions. There are themes and patterns worthy of educators, administrators and stakeholders investment of time and consideration. This post examines and explores three trends that meet the worthy criteria. The three: 1) Skill-specific education also known as competency-based education (CBE) is expanding to institutions and generating new education technology products and platforms, 2) Social learning facilitated by technology and the acceptance of MOOCs is a new and viable instructional method, and 3) Learning-on-the-go supported not just by mobile devices and internet connectivity, but by the availability of sophisticated applications with few barriers will expand learning to students seeking flexible access to education. Con razón no hago exámenes. Sin embargo, se me acumulan los problemas. E incluso, obtengo un nivel alto de suspensos. El motivo es que están tan acostumbrados al enfoque clásico que apenas trabajan de forma regular. Mi enfoque es más exigente y además es bidireccional.

It was shaped over millions of years of sequential adaptation in response to ever-changing environmental demands. Over time, brains grew in size and complexity; old structures were conserved and new structures emerged. As we evolved into social beings, our brains became incredibly sensitive to our social worlds.
This mixture of conservation, adaptation, and innovation has resulted in an amazingly complex brain, capable of everything from monitoring respiration to creating culture. This added complexity came with a cost. Not only do all of these systems have to develop and interconnect, but they also have to stay balanced and properly integrated for optimal performance.
This evolutionary history poses a challenge for educators. While findings from social neuroscience can provide some welcome guideposts for teachers, they cannot substitute for the flexibility needed in the classroom to accommodate a range of students. Students and teachers are not uniform raw materials or assembly-line workers, but a diverse collection of living, breathing human beings with complex evolutionary histories, cultural backgrounds, and life stories. If we are going to move forward, we will have to admit that a one-size-fits-all model of education is doomed to fail the majority of students and teachers.
And through understanding how students’ brains actually work and using that knowledge to benefit classroom learning, we may be able to positively influence classroom education and prepare students to better face unknowable futures. Here are nine scientific insights that educators might want to keep in mind.

The mind, brain, and body are interwoven. 6. The brain has a short attention span and needs repetition and multiple-channel processing for deeper learning to occur. 7. Fear and stress impair learning. 8. We analyze others but not ourselves: the primacy of projection. 9. Learning is enhanced by emphasizing the big picture—and then allowing students to discover the details for themselves.”

This idea has been around a long time. When I was an undergraduate, I had some friends state to me something along the lines of: "Now that I've finished my assignments, I can start pursuing my education." The network of schools and programs for struggling teens started in the 1980s were based on many of these ideas, and so far as emotional growth along with academics, the emphasis was on helping the struggling students learn who they are and what they can do with it. The motivation at that time was very much along the line of what the author calls learning. Many of them are still doing that. -Lon

WOW! Great concept "SCHOOL does not equal LEARNING". This is a scary thought for many teachers who create content driven classrooms. But as educators it speaks to the value of the building an environment of learning.
