The Guardian: Fewer Fringe fans carry loose change so artists hope terminals will keep the tips flowing. The 2018 Fringe festival has made a special focus on street performance, with a new street events arena on the Royal Mile hosting more than 250 shows a day. Having consulted with street performers after last year’s Fringe, one of the key points that arose was the concern that fewer people carried cash, which reduced the amount of tips that performers were receiving.

The Scotsman: Edinburgh's professional rugby team has taken inspiration from the volcanic plug atop which sits the city's famous castle. Edinburgh Rugby have unveiled a new navy, white and orange kit for the 2018/19 season, the orange detail on the front of which is based on volcanic lava, say the club.

BBC News: A bottle of the most expensive whisky in the world is to go under the hammer at auction in Edinburgh. The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 60-year-old will be put up for sale at Bonhams Whisky Sale on 3 October. It is estimated at £700,000-900,000.

BBC News: Edinburgh Airport has become the busiest ever Scottish airport. Figures from July showed more than 1.5 million passengers made their way through the airport, the highest figure ever recorded. That represented a 6.3% increase on the same month last year, with growth in both domestic and international travellers.

Edinburgh Evening News: It has been a long time coming, but now a forgotten venue of the Edinburgh International Festival has mad a spectacular comeback. Last night saw the rebirth of Leith Theatre as the venue opened its doors for the city’s most prestigious cultural event after a 30-year hiatus.

Business Insider: A new app to help people find lawn professionals that has been described as the 'Uber of lawn care' has been launched in Edinburgh. Lawn Lush connects homeowners with local, vetted lawn care professionals and has 15 vendors signed up in the Edinburgh area.

Dundee entrepreneur Asif Iqbal started working on the idea a year ago after growing frustrated with the lengthy process involved in trying to arrange lawn care without signing up to six month contract. The app was part funded by Scottish Enterprise and targets the 'historically low-tech' £5 billion landscaping services industry with more modern tools, Iqbal said.
