Edinburgh Evening News: After over 10 months of work, Leith Street is set to reopen at the end of the month. The road was shut between Calton Road and Waterloo Place from September 4 last year but will be open in time for the festival.

Scotsman: A towering work of art by one of the nation’s most celebrated sculptors, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, will be going on display in Scotland for the first time when it is relocated to a vast new “urban quarter” on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

Business Insider: A father and son are investing almost £2m in a new luxury wine and food venue in Edinburgh. Ronnie and Kyle Reid are opening One20 Wine Café at 120 Dundas Street in the city this weekend to bring 'luxury wine and food at affordable prices' to Edinburgh’s New Town.

Edinburgh Reporter: Lothian Buses has announced it is has redesigned its drivers' uniform. This is the first time in about 20 years that the uniform has been updated, and the 1900 drivers will wear it from August onwards. The design is the result of around 18 months of discussion with the drivers and operational team to find the uniform that best promotes their professionalism. But the maroon colour has been retained as it is recognisable as the company hue.

The uniform was designed by Murray Uniforms based in Coventry following a successful procurement process. The bespoke design is hard wearing and has been designed with comfort in mind. The traditional shirt, tie and trouser garments have been given a modern twist, while still encompassing Lothian’s heritage and the style of the skirt has been completely redesigned for the company’s growing number of female drivers.

Edinburgh Evening News: The number of households in Midlothian is projected to rise by 36 per cent by 2041, while Edinburgh and East Lothian will increase by 26 per cent and West Lothian by 21 per cent compared with the all-Scotland figure of just 13 per cent.

Edinburgh Reporter: Scottish Conservative Leader Ruth Davidson MSP opened a new Google Digital Garage on Shandwick Place yesterday. This is part of a major new investment to offer locals new skills, allowing them to take their first steps online and help  build a CV online while keeping data safe.

Experts will work to help locals become part of the 100,000 people that Google wants to assist in getting a job across the UK. The Scotsman: More than 800 performers joined in an extravaganza of high-energy music and dazzling costumes to mark the start of this year’s festival season. Crowds lined Princes Street to watch the seventh Edinburgh Festival Carnival as it set the city centre humming with the rhythms of salsa, African drummers, Balkan beats and swirling pipes.

Business Insider: Capital project management specialists Turner & Townsend have taken space at the Atria in Edinburgh as it looks to expand. The firm - which has been operational for more than 70 years and employs 5,000 people across 104 offices worldwide - will take occupation of 5,800 sq ft of Grade A space on a ten-year lease.

Football Aid, whose patrons include former Scotland internationals Denis Law and Danny McGrain, makes “dreams come true” by arranging for fans to play at their favourite team’s pitch in return for a charitable donation.

BBC News: A new dessert with a Scottish twist has gone on the menu of an Edinburgh hotel - square sausage ice cream. Dairy firm Glen Urr has joined forces with Apex Hotels to reinvent the breakfast dish. It will go sale to celebrate national ice cream day on Sunday at the chain's Grassmarket hotel.

The square sausage ice cream is served inside a brioche bun with toffee drizzle, to look like brown sauce. Chef Vladimirs Kruus said: "I have to say I've never worked with such an unusual ice cream. Business Insider: Edinburgh Airport has recorded its busiest ever June with almost 1.4 million passengers passing through the airport last month. A total of 1,391,906 people came through Scotland’s busiest airport, up 6.7 percent on the same month last year.

Business Insider: Edinburgh’s office market has enjoyed a strong second quarter according to new figures. Office lettings between the first and second quarter rose 150 per cent to 351,916 sq ft, making just under half a million sq ft (491,885 sq ft) for the first six months of 2018.

Property Wire: Rising demand, especially at the top end of the market, has pushed up prices in Edinburgh with values up strongly across all measures, the latest figures show. Prices in the prime market increased by 3.7% quarter on quarter, by 9.4% year on year and are up 26.5% compared with five years ago, according to the data from real estate firm Knight Frank.

The report points out that price growth is not dampening buyer demand with data from the Registers of Scotland revealing a 17.3% year on year increase in sales agreed over the 12 months to April 2018.
