Class Size - Education Week Research Center

Kayla Solimani's insight:

Class size is a huge debate these days. I believe that smaller class size is better. I like having more one on one time with the teacher. I like when the teacher knows you and how you work and is able to assist you easier. Having a large class is more cost efficient but I think that it hurts the students.

Technology is becoming more and more popular and it is finding its way into classrooms now a days. I believe that technology could greatly influence some subjects in school. When reading this article I was intrigued at the use of technology to record lectures for students to listen to at home then talk and work through problems in class. We Are Teachers

We Are Teachers | EDCI 280 | Scoop.it
Picture a first-grade classroom, maybe even your own. Kids are gathered around the sand table, exploring the sand, letting the grains run between their fingers. The teacher passes out some props—marbles, rulers, boxes and cups—and lets students explore freely for a few minutes. The kids excitedly dig in, filling cups with sand and pouring it out, burying marbles, and turning the rulers into shovels and rakes.
Kayla Solimani's insight:

I think it is important for teachers to use STEM in their everyday curriculum to teach them the subjects they would normally according to the curriculum but then they learn additional subjects with the integration of STEM. I think STEM programs are becoming more integrated into school systems but because it is mandatory. STEM should be something that teachers want to teach. Children need different ways to learn different knowledge. My previous opinion was that STEM was lacking in school programs but this article explains how to incorporate STEM into education.

Kayla Solimani's insight:

Growing up you think that everyone is great at reading. I could read but when I was asked in school to read aloud I would get nervous and stutter on words and not read as fast as the other students. Reading is a crucial part in school. Initially, you don't think too much of it and that literacy isn't a big deal. In reality you read things everyday in class from worksheets to an actual book. I was unaware how major literacy is and I will try and focus on it as a future teacher.
