Fiat SpA, whose shareholders vote in two days on merging the Italian carmaker with U.S. unit Chrysler Group LLC, reported profit that missed estimates as sales fell in Brazil and spending rose in the U.S. and Canada.

Fiat profits seem to depends tightly on Brazil.


Actually I think Fiat relies a lot on middle class demand hence it is natural this company is seeking it in recently emerged economies but the development of such a “social phenomenon”

is not trivial and imho depends strongly and governments capability to properly distribute profits so to create a widesreapd local demand … and hence affecting their export capability.

This will ultimately lead to a (positive) rebalancing but … is this the emerged economies goal ?

VTB Bank OAO, Bank of Moscow and Russian Agricultural Bank became the latest targets of U.S. sanctions in attempt to stop President Vladimir Putin from supporting Ukrainian rebels.

USA and EU are strongly hitting Russia where it is not so strong, at the economic level.

Russian Banks have sourced about 50% of their funding from Europe since the beginning of the financial crisis.

Russian economy is tightly connected to the gas export: could Russia afford not to sell it to EU this winter?

Just in case, Europe has increased its gas stockpiles at record high level.

T Bond 10Y Yields 2.493% 

Tapering could trigger some troubles to EZ Bonds

Presently T-Bond 10Y yields 2.493% while Bonos 10Y yields 2.47% 

which one do you prefear ? 

 

If Yellen at FOMC will announce an acceleration regarding tapering, someone could decide to drop EZ Bonds to buy T-Bonds ... 

So will EZ Banks (obviously backed by ECB) the former ones ?
