Treatments for eating disorders are covered by OSU’s student health insurance, but the cost of treatment varies on a case-by-case basis. One of the services offered at OSU for students seeking help is the Eating Disorder Treatment Team, which is comprised of dietitians, therapists and physicians.

Stress is a big factor with people and eating disorders. Stress can contribute to the development of a eating disorder. Disordered eating patterns can cause your stress level to spike. College students are more likely to develop eating disorders. Sufferers of stress and eating disorders tend to keep their conditions a secret. People who struggle with eating disorders are highly prone to stress anyway.

Anne Eipe talks about how we should accept ourselves for who we are and to not stress over things that we can not control. She gives advice, saying that people should do things to positively effect their self-esteem. She says that self-esteem does not come from external things but it comes from the inside. I agree with here thoughts

One-fourth of all college students struggle from an eating disorder. There has been an increase in eating disorders from a 23 percent to a 32 percent among females. Among males, eating disorders increased from 7.9 percent to 25 percent. Some students feel that body image is something that college students struggle with and that an awareness week is important.

Many people who have eating disorders have body issues and low self-esteem. There are many ways to yourself grow more comfortable with your body. Fall in love with yourself and eliminate self criticism, acknowledge your effects and stay positive, let go of your worries and trust in yourself, be honest with yourself and learn to forgive yourself, express gratitude and learn to see beauty.

People with low self esteem need to read this to help them out.  We do not want kids to not be motivated to help their disorders.  These disorders are very serious and something that needs to be taken seriously and needs to be treated.

Ballet dancers have a significantly higher risk of developing eating disorders than their non-dancing peers. Students are more likely to become eating disordered because they try to conform to the stereotype of the "perfect dancer". If a dancer is underweight, dancing may have to be stopped or at least curtailed in combination with nutritional therapy to allow weight restoration to occur. It is important for a ballet dancer to never get pushed to hard.

The mission of NEDAW is to “increase outreach and awareness of eating disorders and body image issues” and “to recognize the pressures, attitudes and behaviors that shape the disorder” across both the country and worldwide. I believe this is a good thing to have in all communities.
