Jenifer Beaudean is no stranger to meeting challenges head-on. A 1991 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, she is a self-described “driven, creative and ridiculously independent” person who has jumped out of airplanes, and led soldiers as an Army officer.

 

For 13 years (beginning when she was a West Point cadet) she was also a secret bulimic.

Jenifer Beaudean was a bulimic for 13 years, at the beginning of her military training at U.S. Military Academy, at West Point. She felt like she had to be thinner to be accepted in society.

נכתב כאן על החוק אותו חוקקו במדינת ישראל שבעלי הפרעות אכילה ובעלי משקל נמוך מהנורמה לא יוכלו לדגמן. בארה"ב מקווים שיחוקקו חוק דומה.
לדעתי, ייתן צעד ענק להלחמות בתופעת הפרעות האכילה

אנשים בארה"ב מוחים על כך שארה"ב לא מגבילה את המשקל והרזון של הדוגמנים. טוענים שצריכים לפעול כמו בישראל., שחוקק חוק המגביל את משקל הדוגמנים.
בנוסף מראים נתונים מדאיגים על בני נוער שלא מרוצים מהמראה שלהם. 
באמת עד כמה בני הנוער צריכים לדאוג עד שמישהו יתעורר ויקל עליהם.

מאמר זה מדבר דווקא על איך אנחנו יכולים לשים לב אם מישהו מהסביבה הקרובה שלנו עם הפרעות אכילה.
 כמובן שאנחנו לא יכולים להגיד בוודאות כי אנחנו לא מומחים בתחום אך מספר תסמינים יכולים להעלות בנו חשד כמו: התעסקות יתר בספירת קלוריות, במשקל, מזון בסיסי שכבר לא נמצא בבית, התבודדות, העלמות אחרי ארוחות וכו'.
חשוב לנו להיות ערים לסובבים אותנו מפני שאנחנו יכולים לעזור להם בגילוי מוקדם ובכך להציל אותם. נוכל לשלוח אותם לעזרה הנכונה והמתאימה להם.

Demi Lovato says that she has a serious eating disorder. Sometimes she has emotional issues such as depression and self harm. She just wants to help other people who have the same problem deal with it and stay strong. She says that is she even helps one person she has succeeded. I read or liked this article because its telling people who have this problem that its okay you just gotta stay strong. She's not downing them even she has it so she wants to inform them that their not alone.

While respected sites such as Something Fishy have a history of helping ED sufferers and their loved ones, some less reputable sites take a decidedly unhealthy approach to the topic.

 

Sites that actually encourage self-starvation and other forms of disordered eating remain troubling prevalent. By creating a false sense of togetherness and belonging among sufferers who otherwise feel ostracized, these sites can expose vulnerable individuals to unhealthy pressures and harmful “advice.”
