With support from the Alberta government, faculty at MacEwan Early Learning and Child Care Program, and Mount Royal Department of Child and Youth Studies, worked with the professional field to develop and pilot this curriculum framework, which is intended to guide the practice of early childhood educators working in centre based child care and family day homes in Alberta.

The brain is a very sensitive part of the human specie and it's malfunctioning could affect the entire performance of the person involved. However, the brain does not simply appear in the human skull. It has it's genesis, and takes time to develop appropriately to enable it function as expected. The development of the brain is an ongoing process that starts before birth and continues through childhood into adulthood.
