Content sharing and storytelling: why and how people share content

Content sharing and storytelling: why and how people share content | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

Why do people share content and stories. A long story on content sharing: the what, why and how.

What makes American Express's content site a raging success

What makes American Express's content site a raging success | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it
Small-business owners were searching for information. American Express had the expertise, but first it had to listen to what its customers wanted to know.

It's an alarming statistic, hinting at shattered dreams and financial ruin for hardworking moms and pops all over the U.S.: Nearly 60 percent of small businesses fail within four years.

American Express wanted to reduce that number, says Carrie Parker, director of American Express Open Forum, a content marketing website dedicated to small-business education.

What the company figured out was this: Small-business owners excel in the area of their expertise. If they build widgets, they know those darn widgets inside and out.

What they tend to lack, however, is the knowhow to run a business: finding real estate, setting up payroll, and hiring temporary support.

"They are desperate for content," Parker says....

Meet Their Needs: Using Influence and Motivation In Marketing

Meet Their Needs: Using Influence and Motivation In Marketing | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

Five star general and 34th president of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower, is credited with saying, “Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to."

To influence someone doesn’t mean that you make the decision for them. Rather, it means that you present persuasive reasons for them to make a decision that you want them to make. They’re still deciding, you’re just helping them make your decision.Basically, you show them why they should be motivated.

If you’re trying to get people to make the decision to click your link, read your blog post, download your eBook, subscribe to your feed, request your quote, buy your product, or purchase your service, you must influence them in a way that makes them motivated to do so....

Here’s the thing: the internet never sleeps.

Which means data never sleeps, and the internet sure likes to use up a lot of it. How much? In any given minute, 277,000 tweets are published on Twitter, 216,000 photos are sent to Instagram and 8,333 videos are shared on Vine.

And we’re just getting started. Over that same 60 second period, 347,222 photos are sent on WhatsApp, 416,667 swipes are made on Tinder and 3,472 images are pinned on Pinterest.

And if you think that’s impressive, Google receives 4 millions search queries, Facebook users share 2.46 million pieces of content and 204 million email messages are sent each and every minute of the day.
