Policy on drugs endangers youth

Policy on drugs endangers youth | Drug Free | Scoop.it

When you get to high school, you are taught that drugs are ''bad''. The teachers show you pictures and tell you the horror stories about drugs, but at that age, you can never really believe that something which looks like a sugar pill can wreak all that damage and the stories never really quench any curiosity.

Kelsey Sunde's curator insight, December 11, 2013 10:06 AM

This article basically is saying that people can get addicted to painkillers... And once those people build a tolerance, they need a heavier dosage.. and once that new dosage no longer works they move to heavier durgs, such as cocain, or heroin. This is why it is important to be mindful and know your limits, and if you're on a painkiller take them as the doctor prescribes them and follow his orders

Kelsey Sunde's curator insight, December 11, 2013 10:09 AM

This article is a very good source for needing more information on bad habbits. It tells that "just say no" is what they call "magical thinking". Its easier said than done. but no matter what youre addicted to whether its coffee or cocaine, bad habits die hard. And the truth behind why is because we aren't truthful with each other and ourselves. we won't admit we have a problem. we won't come out and say it

Aspen Evans's curator insight, December 11, 2014 7:52 AM

This article appears on my page because it shows what drugs do to the brain and not just the physical. Teenagers and young adults would benefit from seeing this article because it shows whats going on in their bodies while they are doing drugs and how bad it can actually be. This relates to our topic of drug addiction because it shows the final effects of our brain and the chemicals it is reacting with.

Dangerous addiction – should doctors be tested for drug use? (Aus) | Drug Free | Scoop.it

Doctors, just like the rest of the population, make personal choices about drug use. Some choose to use legal drugs such as tobacco and alcohol; others take illicit substances like cannabis and amphetamines. Doctors also have access to controlled drugs, which creates the potential for misuse of prescribed medicines.
