Austin Musgrove's curator insight, September 21, 2014 1:13 PM

I have prior experience creating social media schedules and I agree that content curation is important for building and maintaining an audience of loyal followers. I also agree with the 9 tips for successful content curation.  However, I feel there should have been more emphasis on content being unique.  Content must be unique and compelling because it should stand out from the social media content of competitors. Curation efforts won't provide any benefit if the majority of content  is similar to competitors.

Juliet O'Connor's curator insight, September 22, 2014 10:02 AM

This article is about content curation. It proposes 9 tips for content curation because according to the article content curation is the most important part of social media marketing it is the "glue".

I think some of the tips are important yet some are obvious and not as helpful. The first is target audience which is very important when creating a website for any purpose. This tip also discuses market research which is also very important. A less important tip in my opinion is being consistent I think that if you have already targeted a market and done market research then the content should be consistent with what your topic is. I agree with most of the other tips all of them focusing on adding value and creating the perfect content for your website so that it does generate a lot of traffic. I think that this article relates to what we have been discussing in class about objectives and how to create a good website.

How to Increase Landing Page Conversions With the Psychology of Desire - Unbounce

How to Increase Landing Page Conversions With the Psychology of Desire - Unbounce | Don Diva Magazine Tech News | Scoop.it

Digest...

Desire is made up of two key elements: individual incentive and social norms.

Individual incentives

At a basic level, humans are motivated to take action either to gain pleasure or avoid pain.

In the context of your marketing campaigns, desire is created when people can see how your product or service can help them to either gain pleasure or alleviate pain.

Social norms

All that isn’t to say that humans will simply seek out whatever creates pleasure or alleviates pain with no thought to the consequences. We are inherently social beings and are driven to act in a way we believe will be considered normal.

>> When including hero shots of your product or service on your landing page, use professionally-shot photography to increase individual incentive.

>> When including pictures or screenshots of your product or service on your landing page, show them in the context of how they will help the user either create pleasure or avoid pain.

>> If you have a number of noteworthy customers who use your product or service, feature them prominently on your landing pages.

>> Whenever you can, collect testimonials from your customers to feature on your landing pages. To increase their relevance and efficiency, have them support the benefits you’ve listed on your landing page.

>> If you have an impressive number of people who have signed up for your product, then feature that number prominently on your landing pages.

How to Launch and Grow a Business Blog From Scratch | Hubspot | Don Diva Magazine Tech News | Scoop.it

Learn how to actually launch and grow a business blog in this SlideShare presentation.

...Fortunately, I was working with an amazing team. My manager, Brian Balfour, had perfected the art of audience research. And my teammate, Dan Wolchonok, had the perfect mix of coding expertise and marketing passion to quickly ship experiments. The three of us worked together to launch what is now the Sidekick Blog, and within five months we generated over 22,000 engaged email subscribers and retained an average of 30,000 monthly blog viewers.

Now, we didn't reach these numbers by making all the right moves. We messed up plenty of times. But the most important thing I learned throughout this entire process was that it should not be this hard to learn how to launch and grow a blog. So I documented every step we took, hoping to share a starting playbook that others could adopt and employ.

Below is that playbook. Check it out to learn how you can actually launch and grow a business blog....

How Introverts Can Network Without Losing Their Minds

How Introverts Can Network Without Losing Their Minds | Don Diva Magazine Tech News | Scoop.it

Introverts recharge by spending time alone. They lose energy from interacting with other people for long periods of time, particularly in stimulating, crowded environments.

Extroverts, conversely, lose energy from spending time alone. They recharge by interacting with other people in highly social environments.

This personality dimension has nothing to do with shyness. According to author Susan Cain, presiding commander in chief of the introverts, shyness is a fear of negative judgment, while introversion is a preference for quiet, minimally stimulating environments. In other words, a lack of interest in socializing (introversion) is clearly different than fearing it (shyness).

6 Simple Ways To Improve The Way You Speak

6 Simple Ways To Improve The Way You Speak | Don Diva Magazine Tech News | Scoop.it

Business leaders pay a great deal of attention to communication. Mastering what you need to say and how you need to say it are important factors if you’re going to be an effective communicator. However, one element of spoken communication is often overlooked--the way you speak.

We’ve all heard people whose voices are too grating, soft, or fake. Some people’s speech is so unpleasant that they undermine the speaker’s message entirely. However, you can take steps to improve the quality, tone, and expression of your voice, and how you express yourself vocally. It just takes a little know-how and practice.

Despite the rise of other marketing channels like mobile and social media, email is still going strong -- if you're doing it well.

Via Kamal Bennani

George Tsakiris's curator insight, September 29, 2014 12:15 PM

I think this article is excellent because newsletter/email marketing is still very much alive. The reason why individuals think its dead is because many are not doing it correctly.

The first tip that this article gives is to "Send your own emails" which is extremely important. If you have a company that generates your own emails, it takes away from the company in the sense that you are not allowing your brand to speak. The company doesn't realize what your message/brand are therefore they are unlikey to have a successful message sent out.

The second tip that I thought was the most useful and effective was "to be personal." This is important because as a customer, you would rather see a company that is interacting with their clients rather than a spam email being sent out. Offering customers a chance to reply back and give their feedback is also very important.

"Adding Narrative" is the next topic that is discussed in which I think is important, this allows again for clients and customers to be interactive. Its important for customers to see where the company stands so potentially giving a brief update each month onto how your doing as a company is important.

The final concept discussed throughout this article is to run A/B tests, these are important in determining what your customers are doing when they open up the email. For example, google analytics lets you see how many customers bought something via email newsletter. At my internship I am allowed to see how much the company made in a day via email newsletter. This is very important because it gives you a proper idea of where you stand within your competition.

How To Grow a New Website to Over 100,000 Organic Visits Per Month

How To Grow a New Website to Over 100,000 Organic Visits Per Month | Don Diva Magazine Tech News | Scoop.it

This is a case study on how I built a website that receives over 100,000 visitors per month, in less than 1 year, without spending $1 on advertising.

This was done 100% through SEO and content strategy.

Before we dive in, allow me to clarify a few things:

1. The website reached over 100,000 visitors in 9 months.
2. This was a new domain, registered just a couple months before launch.
3. This was done in a language I do not read nor speak (Japanese).
4. Japanese is a non-roman character language, making it nearly impossible to use most of the popular SEO tools.

The purpose of this post is to walk you through precisely how my team and I reached this milestone, the approach we took, and show how technical SEO combined with content strategy can deliver serious results....

Visual Content Is Shaping the Future of Social Media [Infographic] | Don Diva Magazine Tech News | Scoop.it
Visual content is exploding on social media, with sites like Pinterest and Vine leading the charge.

Even Twitter, which started as a place to post short and simple messages, now has images for a more visual experience. Indeed, the future of digital media is upon us — and it’s rich with visual content.

According to an infographic from Oracle, there are five tweets per second that include a Vine link. The acquisitions of Tumblr and Vizify point to an increased interest in interactive media and infographics, with Yahoo investing in visual media.
