CCO inPractice™: Free HIV & Oncology Searchable Medical Texts, Drug Database, Point-of-Care Answers, PubMed Abstracts for Health Care Professionals | Doctors House | Scoop.it

I'm always a little wary of healthcare information that is funded by pharmaceutical companies, but in the case of Oncology and HIV I guess they are more than integral to the care of the patient.

Two great looking resources that you can download to your iOS device - useful for quick reference.

inPractice medical texts are free & regularly updated. Simply search to find answers at the point of care. Available for HIV & oncology, with drug databases, PubMed, & more.

Crit-IQ

Crit-IQ | Doctors House | Scoop.it

This site looks like it has some great resources, but it's also $175 a year to join - unless you can convince your department to join for you.

You can also check out their iOS application Data Interpretation, which is only $4.49 and looks like a useful exam prep tool and maybe good for keeping clinical acumen up to date.

In my mind it's hard to compete with Life in The Fast Lane, which is free and run with a passion for medical eduction.

iPhone blood pressure peripheral head to head review: Withings verse iHealth, medical perspective | Doctors House | Scoop.it
There will be more integrated smartphone app/medical devices coming - look out for the glucometer, the portable ultrasound, and eventually the serum analyser. But in the mean time, let's start with the basics. Blood Pressure monitoring.

The Withing's one gets my vote. Wi-Fi all the way.

"A comparison between 2 blood pressure monitors - iHealth and Withings - designed for iPhone and iPad."

Get it in Australian and other International versions. It will save you on more than one occasion, and more importantly it will save your patient!

Watch out for the electronic version coming soon. In the meantime some of the resources are up on this site.

Retraction Watch

Retraction Watch | Doctors House | Scoop.it

What a great site. Not specifically medically related, but the fact that these guys take the time to report on retractions of published articles is inspiring - and they're definitely worth keeping an eye on for the odd medical retraction.

Clinical Practice Guidelines

Clinical Practice Guidelines | Doctors House | Scoop.it
These clinical practice guidelines are an excellent first point of call for young doctors dealing with any Women's Health issues. Divided into four sections they cover topics as broad as Wafarin therapy and specific as Home Birth Women who are Rh Negative.

Used to be able to get it as a download for your PDA - not sure why that stopped.

From the public website for the Royal Women's Hospital in Victoria, Australia...
