Colleges need students, and baby boomers need educational pathways into a new life chapter. So why the deafening silence?

As a distance education dept in a HE institution, I think the article shows us a direction to refocus our target gp.  Many of our students are non traditional adult students.  But to what extent have we known their needs and how to fulfill those needs?  PLAR is good but not enough.  Might be we need to redesign our programs e.g. competency learning, etc.

As mentioned in the previous scoop, this article is another prof's response to C.Schaber's article.  Interested in seeing the different takes on the same topics.  Unlike the comments of Schaber's article, S.D.Krause took a fair and reasonable approach to explain why he teaches online courses.

A new report from the Community College Research Center has suggested that while a college degree or a certificate has an impact on earnings, the impact of stackable credentials is still iffy.
