Define Your Culture Before It Defines You | Anticipatory Management | Scoop.it
The truth is that your organization is going to have a culture whether you, as the leader, define it or not. Even the lack of culture is, in and of itself, a culture. So the question is: will you step up and define your culture?

Empowerment is the #1 desire by Millenial's in North America regarding their careers. A close second is a manager that can serve as a role model.

Empowerment means flat management structures. No other way.

Employee Engagement 101: Does Your Culture Value Humans?

Employee Engagement 101: Does Your Culture Value Humans? | Anticipatory Management | Scoop.it
What’s the distance between your company culture and your brand? Answer: There shouldn’t be any.

Via Anne Leong
Andres Jordan's insight:

Wow, here is a provocative statement.

Our mercantile minds have become so optimized to derive maximum margins that we tend to forget that it all starts with us, ahem, humans.

But why trust me on this. Just google Steve Jobs and/ or Richard Branson, or a myriad of other thinkers about what they have to say.

In the beginning there are neurons firing in each or our brains deriving a new idea or insight. Everything else comes later. So, value your humans. And, btw, they are not "resources" they are creative agents of change - if allowed to be.

The Secret to Lean Innovation Is Making Learning a Priority | Anticipatory Management | Scoop.it
Success can skyrocket when lessons are systematically captured and made available to everyone.

Via The Learning Factor
Andres Jordan's insight:

Amazing that this needs to be said. Life is knowledge and learning. Yet, some business cultures have forgotten this basic learning.

Here is the proof of it value.  Value grows from learning and from failing.

Sadly, I have worked for cultures where the lessons from failures were thrown out and people threatened with being fired for doing "post mortem's." Sad but true.

Learning for life creates innovations!

Pyush Pandey's curator insight, November 19, 2014 4:37 AM

Lean innovation embraces a philosophy of not letting progress get in the way of perfection. It leverages the Pareto principle that 20% of a product’s features (what’s distilled down into the minimal viable product) will most likely deliver 80% of the benefits sought by customers.

Andres Jordan's insight:

A simple truth. But here is the catch: Many legacy businesses are run by analog mindsets built on decades of hierarchal structures that deter everyday leadership.

The very notion of leadership has to evolve and has to be given new attributes. New leadership needs to have a genuine care for people, be relational and empathetic, inspire employees and customers, mentor ALL and have offices in the first floor.

Yeah, Australia but applicable to good old USA:

"The highest levels of leadership and power in this country are underexposed to entrepreneurship, technology-driven disruption and competitive friction. Instead, too much energy is focused on achieving cosy corporate directorships which reward risk-mitigation governance and outdated management practices"

Andres Jordan's insight:

So true. The challenge for organizations is that those immersed in the innovation/practice tend to get ahead with the new learnings than those on the outside. It takes egoless managers to accept that fact. Worse, it can awaken narcissistic tendencies in the same managers in an effort to defend the status quo.
